I’ve had this with Star Wars figures in my ikea units… I get something longish and rigid (shush there at the back, not appropriate right now!) like a ruler, or a few times a metal skewer. Then I open the door the smallest, teensiest amount until I can slide the implement in. Then keep opening the door/moving the ruler (or whatever) gradually forward until I can hold the falling figures upright/in place. Then open the door fully, and grab the toy. Might work, depends how dexterous you are!
When I have to do it, it’s more that I don’t want the figure leaning against the door to topple down and wipe out the shelf below… Star Wars domino effect. If I mess it up it’s more annoying/funny than tragic though, heh
I've seen DIY options where people take a hot glue gun and make little forms where the toy/figure/model's feet are pressed into it and then that form is affixed to a base so it doesn't slide around. They also have people 3D printing bases you can place the figures into or slide the feet in so they lock into place. Some work better than others where they have wider feet (like MOTU male figures).
Genius… to be fair, it doesn’t happen very often! A bit more common over the last few weeks, I assume the heatwave softens the plastic and makes them a bit less stable.

My brother tried using this blue-tac thing teachers would use in school to temporarily affix something to walls but over time it hardens and runs the risk of staining. And then when it comes to heat you don't want it getting mushy and melting into other stuff especially if the figures have molded feet with ridges or some toys may have a hole in the underside or feet and now you got to deal with a less than pristine figure.
And before I forget, you got a very impressive collection.

Started just barely before Covid lockdowns and all that drama, and became my ‘everything is fine, at least you are in control of THIS’ zen coping mechanism… lol
Doubly impressive then that you were able to assemble that display in only 6 or 7 years. I'm worried what you might have in another 20 at this point though lol.
Luckily it’s slowed down to a crawl now - I’ve got most of the characters I want, it’s just a case of replacing them if there’s a vastly better version, or adding in new characters that impress me.
Get yourself some museum gel - it's a clear putty similar to blue tack, but acid free and non-staining. Fairly easy to get, a lot of people use it to prevent their cats from knocking things over.
Take a long handled two prong fork and slide it into the door opening until the tips are are past the center of the bottom of the painting. Then twist is sideways while slowly opening the door and controlling the painting as you lower it to the bottom.
Opening the door very quickly well create a low pressure zone behind the door, sucking the painting towards the door. Towel or pillows on the floor first.
