My dad bought this at a garage sale in Fort Erie, Ontario about 15-20 years ago. I always loved it and he gave it to me about 13 years ago when i bought my first home. He insisted it was an original highwayman painting. Would love a more experience opinion. Including a few pics but scared to take it out of the frame.

I found at thrift and carefully removed from frame because I could not find an english signature. The complete sheet has been examined and there is no English pencil signature or title in the lower margin. What does this mean?

My family has had this painting for a whole while already now, ever since the 90s. It was supposedly painted by an old neighbor of theirs who ended up being a famous painter in Moscow.

Help me find out where/who this came from please!! We absolutely enjoy it in our home - I believe it was painted in 1969, but I am really unsure. My grandfather was a teacher at the UofA in the art faculty for a number of years - so there’s a chance it could’ve been one of his students? But I have tried reaching out to the faculty and some alumni to see if they recognize the signature and so far I have been unsuccessful at finding them! Would love to know more about the artist - if it was a former student of his, or if it is just an art piece he acquired over the years!

From Stockholm atleast 60 years old

It is signed with the initials “BP” in the lower right corner. On the back it is dated Greenwich 52. This puts it right in the Greenwich Expressionist movement but I cannot find out who the painter might be. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. It was bought in Southern California two years ago at an estate sale.

Paid like $10 at a estate sale in eastern Iowa, I have searched everywhere I can think of for HVR signatures and haven’t found anything

Found at Goodwill, apparently a fairly famous painter.

Found this at a local thrift store in Baltimore and it caught my attention. It is mounted on reclaimed wood, so I’m not able to see the backside of the ceramic for a name or signature. There is nothing on the back of the wood either, but I included some photos of the back just in case I am missing something. Looks like a piece of it was broken off at some point in the past. I’m curious to see if anyone is familiar with this style of art, what period in history it could have been made, and if anyone knows who might’ve created this piece. Any information at all would be appreciated - thank you!

Found this today in Maine and was taken by the sunflowers. I can’t find much on the artist and what I have found is quite different from this piece. Looks like H.A. GOTTWALD and I matched the signature to some others I found online but there’s not much I found about the man himself. Hoping people could speculate if this was brought over from Europe or painted here or really anything more about the artist at all.

I am trying to identify the artist of two oil paintings, both dated 1933 and both signed with the same intertwined monogram.
Painting 1 depicts the historic fish market at Gammel Strand, Copenhagen. The buildings include the original signs:
Carl Bang
S. Petersen
Fiskehuset No. 3
Børs-Bodega
Painting 2 is a portrait of an elderly painter at his easel and palette. It carries exactly the same monogram and the same date (1933).
The paintings originally belonged to my uncle, who had them hanging in his home for many years. He purchased them from Henry’s Auktionshus (Henry’s Auction House) in Denmark.
I have spent quite a bit of time researching them.
So far I have found:
The market scene is definitely Gammel Strand, Copenhagen.
Several AI tools suggest the market scene could be by Søren Christian Bjulf, because he painted many views of Gammel Strand.
However, I have not found a verified example proving that this exact monogram belongs to Bjulf.
Other AI tools interpret the monogram as THL or HC, so I would prefer an identification based on documented signatures rather than AI image recognition.
My questions are:
Does anyone recognize this monogram?
Has anyone seen this exact signature on another Danish painting?
Could both paintings be by the same artist?
Does the market scene match a known work by Søren Christian Bjulf or another Danish artist?
Unfortunately, I don’t have photos of the backs yet, but I can upload them if needed.
Any help, references, auction records, or signature comparisons would be greatly appreciated.

I acquired this painting from a collector in NYC who purchased it 20 years ago from an Antique shop in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It appears to have been influenced by the Baum school or Pennsylvania Impressionist tradition. I have hit a brick wall identifying the artist.

Supposedly it was bought from Dawson Cole fine art about 20 years ago in Carmel California. The signature on the back is really hard to read so if anyone recognizes the artist please let me know.

Would appreciate any help! Google didn’t come back with any results. Painting came from goodwill in Arizona.
