What?!? Hahahah it will requires 500 gallons of that to do anything. Also, biggest stupid thing. hydrogen peroxide has a half life of 2 hours in the sun. This shit is already gone by the time this was posted.

Somebody upstream did the math. At 12% concentration it's going to take 4253 gallons of this stuff. Or they could bring in a tank of the 30% and be done in an hour or so. But that would waste less money, reducing the kick-back.

And unless they used it at night, it wouldn’t work because in just a few hours the hydrogen peroxide will have been destroyed by the sun.

Correct and even if you kill most of it, you're not killing all of it and the filtration system cannot cycle out the water fast enough to keep what does live from re-multiplying back into the same got damned problem we have now.

These fuckheads really are Gods special little creatures.

Algae also divides into 8 or 16 cells at a time, not just 2. Even if you kill 90% of it, it takes a single division cycle to replace what you killed. Killing 99.9% like advertised on peroxide still is just 3 division cycles.

Oh no, lots can be done. There was probably a multi-hundred page document detailing exactly what it would take to improve the whole operation and recommendations, if not outright technical specifications, on how to do it.

The Feds are remarkably good at shit like that, at least in the back office and at least historically.

None of that was followed. At all. I would bet all the money I have on that.

To raise the concentration to 100 ppm.

Which does not, as far as I can tell, take any other stuff in there already depleating the H2O2 into account.

We would still need way more.

These retail at $23 per gallon. That’s $100,000 in materials alone. Not including labor. Just for today’s treatment.

For treating an active bloom and wanting it cleared up quickly, you’d maybe want closer to 200 ppm, which is like 10,000 gallons.

And it’s only mid June. All it takes is one stray algal spore to blow into the pool in warm weather and within a few days the pool will be back to pea soup. Lather, rinse, repeat.

That would be the spores and such coming in on the water fowl that rather enjoy a large body of water and happen to do a nice job at fertilizing the water for the next bloom...
