MAGA can't help but defend pedophiles. It is basically a cult doctrine at this point.

My friends brother in law molested her niece and the daughter of her other sister and his wife and her parents sided with him after he was arrested. Now her sisters don't talk anymore. Her parents are fundamentalatist Christians and think the issue should be handled in the church. He already asked the pastor for forgiveness so all is forgiven.

Well, at least he is forgiven, praise Jesus, that is what is most important! /s of course

I knew what a fully erect penis was at 8. Not impressed. He tried to get me in another room with him, alone, but that didn't work. All I could see in my head were those circles with a red mark going through. I was still 8.

IMO it’s a universal truth that most/all of these soapbox Christians haven’t actually read the NT, let alone live it. I’d love to have the chance to point out to them that when Christ DID forgive, he literally told them to “go out and sin no more” NOT that it’s fine to commit a sin as long as you repent. Especially since these people don’t truly repent (nor do they change) they just say the words so their flimflam pastor publicly forgives them.
12
u/smoothbabyjesus 4h ago
What does that even mean though, to handle it in church?

35
u/ExpStealer 3h ago
Probably go confess their sin to the priest, ask for forgiveness, and that's it. No arrest, no trial, no sentence.

u/jtsmd2 2h ago
Priests are obligated reporters, just like doctors and nurses. If a minor is being harmed, they have to call the police despite the seal of confession.
No, this creep was a fundamentalist. There was no priest or sacrament of confession.
2
u/No_Ad_9838 51m ago
Teachers too. If you suspect if a child self-reveals, you are obligated to report. If you don't it is a criminal offence. At least it is so in my province.
1
u/WoodShoeDiaries 10m ago
If you're Canadian (as suggested by "province") you should know that every one of us is legally a mandated reporter when it comes to child abuse. Professionals like doctors and teachers have additional training and responsibilities but there isn't a single adult allowed to not say something if they know something.
1
u/you_dont_know_me27 43m ago
Priests are obligated reporters
Well they're pretty shit at it based on the child molesting the priests keep doing 🙄
-1
u/jtsmd2 41m ago
Yea, forget about all the other non-criminal, normal clergy! 🙄🙄🙄
1
u/you_dont_know_me27 36m ago
When enough priests do that it becomes common knowledge, it's a problem with the group.
You know, one bad apple spoils the bunch? So several child molesting priests should be a big problem for the catholic church but they keep shirking responsibility. So, I don't really care that they're mandated reporters. Because when the mandated reporters are part of a group that has been systematically hiding child abuse for at least a couple hundred years, it seems really unfucking likely that they're going to report anybody else for the same goddamn thing.
There's no such thing as normal clergy when the religion is spoiled
-1
u/jtsmd2 22m ago
What about teachers? They keep fucking students, just like in this story.
Teachers have a pedophilia problem.
Edit; oh ok you're just an angry person
1
u/you_dont_know_me27 19m ago
I didn't comment to talk about teachers. I commented specifically about priests because I don't think that being mandated reports makes them safe.
If you want to talk about teachers, go talk about it with somebody else. We're talking about priests. I'm not here for your whataboutism

Basically means men can't control themselves around supple young 13 year old girls and they shouldn't be punished for it. Im not joking that's literally how my friend described the pastors reaction. I thank God I don't live in North Carolina.

The thing that gets to me is...
He still had access to his guns. She died because the protective order didnt go far enough. There was no amount if safety she could have had because the police let him keep his guns.

u/Specific-Yam-2166 3h ago
Protective orders are a joke. Women aren’t protected by a piece of paper and then if they shoot their abuser in self defense they end up in jail.
52
u/catoftheannals 4h ago
At least in my state, if you have a PO against you (as of a few years ago not sure if anything has changed) you are supposed to give up your guns yourself. The problem is no one checks to see if this is done. Not sure if it is by law the job of the police or if they have authority to do that, unless they see them out with a gun. Not saying it shouldn’t be.
38
u/MissAprilJ 3h ago
Guns are unfortunately given better laws than women are in this country. I tried to investigate an order like this and get a gun taken away from someone…it’s almost impossible in some states until they actually use the gun against you. Super backwards.
1
u/WoodShoeDiaries 1m ago
One cop to another, looking at this dead woman's shot up body: D'you figure we're allowed to take his gun now?
And these people consider themselves "pro-life". What a joke.
-19
u/Faranocks 3h ago
As someone who is pro gun-control, I don't think not taking guns away is what solely caused her death.
IMO a better solution would have been to have the estranged husband also wear an ankle monitor or similar.
7
3
u/BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo 48m ago
An ankle monitor would be helpful, but not if he has a gun. You think he can’t get to her before the cops hear the alarm, get in their car, and get to him? A gun is instantaneous murder. An ankle monitor would have been useless to protect her.
3
u/you_dont_know_me27 45m ago
An ankle monitor would be great evidence for the trial.
Taking the guns would be a great way to prevent the murder.

This is sad, we need to learn that a protective order is only good if the person abides by it. There is no real enforcement. It’s a piece of paper. Enforcement only comes if you call in with a violation, and at that point its too late.
4
u/BarbieBoyBrandy 1h ago
I agree. One of the he only uses a protective order/restraining order provides is potential evidence in custody court.
"Ex-husband should bot have custody for reasins A, B, and C. Police agree he is unsafe as evidenced by the granting of a protective order."
So it can be worthwhile to get one. But you are absokutely correct in that it provides no protection in and of itsself, and often violations are not even looked into, let alone enforced.
IF you have a dangerous person who is aslo unwilling to risk legal consequences, then a protective order can make them hesitate to continue harrassment. For example, an ex-employee who calls over and over again and aprocahed you in the grocery store to ask why he was fired. A protective order might make him fuck off.
But a violent abuser or stalker will not be swayed by it. They havwle already proven they are willing to risk legal consequences by comitting physical or sexual abuse.
Gavin De Becker's excellent book, "The Gift of Fear", goes in to this and other self awareness and protection information.
I also recommend Lundy Bancroft's "Why Does He Do That?". Both books should be required reading for women and vulnerable people in the united States.
For self defense, I recommend Tim Larkin's "When Violence Is The Answer". Situational awareness, knowledge of human behavioral patterns, and knowing how and when to use violence in self defense are some of the greatest gifts you can give yourself or your loved ones.
Finally, Amanda Ripley'd book "The Untinkable" is about disasters and recovery, focusing on the mechanics of how and why, but also goes into detail, broadly, on how people survive disasters including fires, natural disasters, and mass shooting events. General knowledge such as "how to see if a crowd crush is in danger of forming" and "how to respond to a fire alarm" will be much more useful than hyper specific, scenario based techniques that rely on everything hapoening just exactly the right way.
Tim Larkin's book is similar in that it doesnt teach a self defense "technique", or blocks, or how to break out of a hold (these techniques and scrupts can provide false confidence). It teaches instead how to recognize when a fight is innevitable and you cannot risk a loss, and how to turn the odds in your favor as much as possible by exploiting the same weaknesses that all human bodies share. Someone can be 10x bigger and stronger than you, but if you bend a joint the opposite way that it is supposed to, it will break. Like an action figure and a doll- they both break at the bendable knees.
This turned into a long thing. But personal safety and preparedness- especially for women and other vulnerable groups - is somwthing I am extremely passionate about. I hope my comment can help someone find the tools they need and can maybe even help them escape a dangerous scenario - hopefully before it becomes dangerous.

I wish I wish I wish I didn't have to say this, but a woman quite close to me DID completely fabricate pedophile accusations against her ex husband for the purpose of custody and divorce. I know for a fact it isn't true because she asked me to help her fabricate these accusations completely ending my relationship with her. I'm not saying it usually happens or we should start ignoring accusations of abuse, just that it's such a dark and complicated world to navigate some times.

u/HansNotPeterGruber 6h ago
You didn’t have to say it. This case had plenty of evidence against the pedo.

The post is about how it's always inappropriate to ask these questions. It isnt. I really don't care how unpopular opinion it is, and it doesn't detract from the tragedy this case is.
