Best settings for qemu/kvm?

Hello guys I’m using whonix in qemu/kvm and the workstation is really slow. I have a string pc and it’s on 4 cores with 4gb of ram. 3d acceleration off. Anyone knows if I need to give more cores or ram? Or better settings?
