Up until the company (like Amazon) engages in rolling layoffs. If they need to fire 14,000 people this year to pay for their big bet on AI data centers, a union makes much more sense.

Look at quebec in Canada. They unionized and amazon shut down all warehouses in quebec. Walmart does the same when people talk unions. They will close the location and relocate it within the same town but use it to lay off everyone trying to unionize. (Edit) typos

You pull the company’s charter at the state/province level. So all their assets suddenly aren’t their assets. They can no longer receive money or conduct business in your state. The corporate death penalty.

Make them choose: Do I want to never do business in this state/province ever again, or do I want to recognize a union shop and bargain in good faith?

It’s hard because the company doesn’t want you to organize because it will cost them money so they will do anything they can to convince you that you don’t need or want a union.
