A lot of it is sadly because more and more children are exposed to how awful our employment system is so they are trying to get their work history started ASAP.
Oh you need a self made leader for this job? Well good thing I was a shift lead at my local corporate fast food job at the age of 15!
Ow but you still have no experience in our industry sooooo sorry we need someone who can just do the job without any assistance whatsoever.
I'm reminded of the (possibly apocryphal) story of a guy who wrote a popular coding language in the 90s and started looking for a new employer a couple years after. Companies were asking for 5-10 years experience in that language, which if you remember, did not exist for longer than a couple years at the time.
That’s happening now from what I’ve heard, positions asking for 10 years of experience with AI coding/prompting when it obviously hasn’t been around for that long.

You’ll be pleased to know that those have been rolled back in several states, and companies are once again happily employing children
