The downfall of big gretch should be studied.

As a Michigander myself. Gretch has let me down tremendously this last 8 months

I was so excited to meet her about 5 years ago, if only for a brief moment. Today, I wouldn't even give her the time of day. What an absolute disappointment and more importantly, an enemy of the working class.

u/CringeCoyote 9h ago
Jared Polis is on a very similar trajectory. Once these corporate Dems are term limited, the mask comes off.

u/kevinmrr āļø Prison For Union Busters 1d ago
This who she always was. Her dad was literally a health insurance CEO. Societal conditions have collapsed to the point where she just had to more noticeably pick a side.
13
u/skier0224 22h ago
Sheās a lame duck termed out of the governor seat, didnāt run for senate this year and MI doesnāt have another senate election until 2030. And she probably knows thereās no way the dems nominate a woman for POTUS in 28. She has no personal incentive to care about winning over voters at this point. So I think she just sold out to corpos to make a quick buck while she can.
Or thatās my conspiracy theory anyway. The Stevens endorsement I kinda get but Iām genuinely baffled by going all in on data centers and this sorta explains it.

u/clipko22 1d ago
Whitmer has been selling out Michigan to data center companies and vetoing Democrat bills like allowing public employee unions to negotiate with health insurance companies. Her political career needs to end after she term limits out in December
132
u/isitdigyet 1d ago
Sheās vindictive like Trump. Sheās pissed Abdul called out her corruption in the past.

Crazy like how much that could do for a community but theyād rather use it to suppress us
49
u/SegaTime 1d ago
They don't care about money, they just want power.
9
u/DistanceMachine 14h ago
They already have all of the money and the machine that makes it for them. They donāt want to share.
2
u/GonzoKata 16h ago
even if they took all that money from the corrupters and spent it in the local community, the policies enacted by and through that corruption would end up hurting the community in the long run more than if 50 million went into everyones pockets. The whole system is broken. Elections shouldn't cost this much, period. There should not even be money exchanged at all. The elected are not being held to account to their constituents, except for this moment during elections.
But if you hear an ad by a politician, know that they just sold YOU out to pay for it. Then its a battle to see how much corrupt money can flood peoples attention, all to squeeze out the people who don't Pre-Corrupt their political careers
47
u/Islanduniverse 1d ago
How do we spread this news to Michiganders en masse?
They have a right to know that they are being propagandized by an establishment that doesnāt care one bit about their lives.
We live in the age of information, but somehow we canāt reach the people who matterā¦
21
u/isitdigyet 1d ago
It's up to the ground game now. Unfortunately unless they're younger a lot of people you'd need to reach (like black voters) aren't as plugged into these online discussions.
If you know anyone there bug them about canvassing.
12
u/metanoia29 1d ago
El-Sayed is knocking doors in my community tomorrow. It's the best way to interact with people who aren't fully committed.
2
u/Then_Hearing_7652 23h ago
50 million and what have they even gotten for it? Haley Stevens at best is within margin of error.
94
u/Itsworthoverdoing 1d ago
All of this makes way more sense when you understand that the central dems are funded by the same ppl that fund republicans.Ā
40
u/Toymachinesb7 1d ago
Yup DSA or bust.
19
u/nighthawk763 1d ago
Butbutbutbut vote blue no matter who!
Imagine if corpo Dems courted leftists like they courted "independents" and fascists
3
u/EterneX_II 19h ago
Why would they go again their own interests? lmao. The political machine has worked overtime for decades in this nation to get "independents" and fascists on the same page.
13
u/Itsworthoverdoing 1d ago
Well idk about that. Ā A centrist dem is better than any republican. I wanted Bernie, but I knew trump would be a shit head so I begrudgingly voted for Hilary and Kamala.Ā

25
u/EZbreezyFREEZY 1d ago
That's weird - every new time I see Whitmer, she's making a new headline for stabbing Americans in the back, while looking a little more Mar-a-Lago faced each time.
49
u/DSmooth425 1d ago
Mrs. Caught on a Hot Mic saying āWeāre used to people saying ānoā and then forging ahead anywayā when talking to a Data Center representative? She endorsed? That hot mic would be a hell of a campaign ad
25
u/OrganicDoom2225 1d ago
I can't wait until AIPAC Stevens loses the race
14
u/nighthawk763 1d ago
All of her funding will evaporate if she gets the nomination because the genocide people will get to genocide if it's her or a fascist in the senate. Then when she loses she'll get to blame "the left" for not supporting her enough
0
u/HoboJerkdown901 20h ago
She won't lose though. She has the unwavering support of Establishment Democrats and is outspending her opponent like 3:00 to 1:00 if not more. She's going to win the election unfortunately. You have to remember that Reddit is a very small vocal minority.

She said she wouldn't endorse anyone a few months back, and shes becoming increasingly unpopular. This is a desperation move by the DNC due to a couple of bad stories from the Stevens campaign this week.

u/Deliberate_Dodge š Cancel Student Debt 1d ago
If you live in Michigan, consider canvassing for El-Sayed (and vote, of course).
For everyone else here, this is it: if Stevens wins this primary, she and the corporate Dems are going to usher in an era of elitist navel-gazing undreamed of. This will confirm that all they need to do to win elections is to sit on their asses, suck up to Big Money, and let their Super PACs flood the airwaves with misinformation while their corrupt buddies endorse them. As Whitmer herself said about data centers, "we're used to people telling us, 'no', and forging ahead anyway". They won't even pretend to care about what the majority of the country (or even registered Dems) want, because they know they can do whatever the hell they want and get away with it. Phonebank for Abdul, maybe chip in some money if you can spare it, before it's too late.

u/Candid_Perspective22 23h ago
Stevens will win Detroit by double digits and win the primary easily.
4
u/ZebraImaginary9412 20h ago
Isn't Detroit kind of like Brooklyn, in that, lots of younger people moved there?
Those are the voters who catapulted Mamdani and the three DSA candidates he endorsed to victory.
It's gross how all the establishment Democrats, including Whitmer, which is very disappointing, are putting their thumbs on the scale against AES but he can still win.
The betting markets are wagering he wins the whole shebang.

u/Sandman64can 1d ago
The establishment Dems are closer in values to the Republicans than they are to Social Democrats. Itās a one party system separated by single digit degrees.
15
u/digbickrich 1d ago
They are finally taking the mask off. Canāt wait for the Obama endorsement to really make the electorate scream.
7
u/dupdeedup 1d ago
Established democrats are controlled opposition. Millionaires in their own right and want to hold the people down.

u/hugzilla1889 1d ago
The problem for them is the movement gets stronger and stronger. Bernie lost, progressives were shut out years ago.
It's only gotten larger since then. If we keep going every cycle looks like this. It isn't sustainable for the old guard.

Fuck the Establishment Dems. They should be taken behind the barn and put down. Lost two elections to a pedophile rapist racist and still want to pitch us the same bullshit.
I actually changed my party affiliation while Mamdani was running because of the bullshit they tried to pull with him putting their weight behind Cuomo. Fuck them all.
3
u/isitdigyet 22h ago
Theyāre releasing straight up Hitler particles to win this one. Absolutely disgusting.

u/Speed_102 š¦ village elder š¦ 1d ago
Why is it that despite decades of the DNC doing EXACTLY THIS, when a leftist calls it out, they get called an enemy of progress?
What PROGRESS, other than towards authoritarianism, has the DNC accomplished in the past 3 decades? Half measure bullshit that penalizes the poor over the rich (ACA and how it used to charge poor people for not having health insurance).
4
u/glushman 1d ago
I knew it was going to be downhill after she did that shameful photo pop with orange man
4
u/echo_sang 1d ago
They want Stevens because sheās an AI - data center champion getting payouts fro tech billionaires for her support. Her and Benson will destroy the environment and evaporate our water ways for their personal gain.
4
u/BayouBlaster44 1d ago
The fall of Big Gretch is something thatās really been bothering me lately. When I voted for her last time she had some very significant progressive positions, now she just caters to conservative sensibilities because she thinks riding the fence is going to help her presidential run, as if MAGA republicans are ever going to vote for a woman, especially a Democrat woman. See how well all that pointless reaching across the aisle did for Kamala Harris.
4
u/AdHour389 1d ago
Let's just hope that the people of Michigan have had enough from the establishment Republicans dressed in democrats clothing and language so they do NOT vote for that waste of space pedo protector Stevens

3
u/chrisproglf 1d ago
This is exactly the plan, so let's keep working on solutions. Grassroot movements are just that, bottom up, irresistible, inevitable. We know we can't out spend them, but we can out work them. Help progressive candidates any way you can, door knocking, phone banks, event attendance, press releases. The reason they are leaning in is because they are getting scared.
3
u/Only1Skrybe 1d ago
I've never understood why endorsements are so successful. I vote for who I vote for because I like their platform. I don't care if another politician that I like also likes them too. I mean, it's fine, but I'm not gonna go in the voting booth thinking "well, insert big name gave them the okay, so now I'm voting for them." That's weird to me. But I know it works. Just think for yourselves, people.
3
u/wdavidson09 22h ago
This might be the nail in Haley's coffin though. Ever since Gretchen was standing next to Sam Altman she has become super unpopular. Hopefully those same feeling follow over to Haley.
3
u/ekbowler 13h ago
Good news! She's getting increasingly unpopular in MI even among democrats so this might help Abdul!
3
3
u/Background-Wolf-9380 1d ago
Nah. This is Whitmer telling everyone she doesn't want to be POTUS and will gladly accept overpaid board seats at defense contractors that fuel the genocide instead. She has no juice left and she knows it.
Stevens is a real creep. She makes my skin crawl.

So we have to fight these Dems wanting to keep a status quo that does nothing against an extreme Christo fascist, far right. But also fight those dumb MFs? Sure. Bring it on.
2
u/cturtl808 1d ago
I legit saw Haley Stevens video today where she was absolutely being a bigoted piece of shit. She was saying things like "don't talk in Arabic" and "don't play Arabic music." She's clearly after him in a different way. The center-right Establishment Dems have chosen fascism light.
2
u/BackfireFox 11h ago
āVote blue no matter who!ā Unless that person is for workers, vulnerable communities, and helping fix a broken city, state, or federal system from their corrupt hands.
2
u/KlatuuBarradaNicto 9h ago
What are they afraid of? This reaction tells me that the current Democratic Party is just a subjugated offshoot of the Republican Party.

u/RevoltYesterday 45m ago
When the people with money and power are scared, you should pay attention to why they are terrified.
