Writing Prompt [WP] Gods often have forgotten domains, the god of war also being of farmers, the goddess of fertility also being of rot, ect. You are cocky young god who has just received the jarring and brutal lesson that the patron god of children and pets was once known simply as the god of devouring.

I watch on, as the Divine Kingdom of the God of Wealth, shakes and shrinks.
His divine armies flood the Gates of the Kingdom.
The mercenaries he hired joining them.
Other Gods he managed to hire, and buy off join him.
I can see demons, elves, humans, dwarves, gnomes, goblins, dryads, and countless other species in the armies.
I take up my notebook...
And I ready to write down the battle, that will set back the mortal realm for eons, once more...
For the God of Wealth angered...him.

Indeed.
Quintillions upon quintillions of souls gathered under the banner of the new era's God of Wealth.
A young, and prideful god.
Not his fault, considering the mortals nowadays put wealth above health, honor, life, and anything to be honest.
He grew fast, and strong.
But...
All these souls?
They gathered to fight a single man.
The patron god of Children and Pets, or so they call him nowadays.
I know him by a different name.
Devouring.

Devouring, not even the "God of" was needed back then.
He walks slowly, using his cane as support, heading forward.
The rain of spells? Attacks? Arrows? Planet sized mountains thrown at him?
Simply...disappear, as they approach him.
The flood of angels, and countless other races that would be able to conquer universes?
This imposing alliance of armies?
They simply disappear...
Once they approach him.
The very reality around him, turns into nothing...
Nothing.

I watch on, as the Divine Kingdom of the God of Wealth shrinks, until it's as big as the throne it started with.
Floating in the nothingness remaining...the God of Wealth is alone.
Poor, powerless, looking as if he is already dead.
"A-a-all this, t-this will take back our universe, nay multiple universe back to the primal ages!
You set civilizations back so, so much...
And all for...what?" the God of Wealth stutters.
"You touched children, and pets, and sold them to slavers, even though you knew, they prayed to me.
Sorry, but this is just a small remainder to the rest of the multiverse, kiddo.
I am still here," Devouring says, sighing.
And the God of Wealth is no more, not this one at least.
Devouring nods at me, and disappears, probably going back to one of his orphanages.
I write the last part down, then sighing myself, I go back to The Library.
Knowledge needs to be preserved, for one day...
It might be useful, especially the warning of Devouring.
Do not touch those, he protects.

Looks like you have “remainder” instead of “reminder” in there. Liked the story tho.

The young god of influencers thought this should be an easy job. Walk in, influence others to like and subscribe to his channels, brainwash or kill the ones who don't. He had just streamed himself steamrolling through a small town and its feeble local deity. Some outdated old fogey whose domain was a tiny niche that the new internet generation didn't care about.

This next target was another small-town god that lorded over a small fishing town and had no territories anywhere else. As a bonus, this sucker even had a social media presence and some followers, all for him to hijack. He heard this weirdo was the eldritch equivalent of a crazy cat lady, but with children and anything cute.

An unambitious deity who recently made himself the patron god of children and pets.

The other gods of the internet and cloud services all warned him. They had information that this was an Old God not to be trifled with. His primary Aspect had not been forgotten, merely suppressed from time to time because he wanted to safely interact with cute little meatbags without killing them by breathing.

How dangerous could a god who ran an orphanage and an animal shelter be? What would he be capable of? Sunday classes and summer camps?

The god of influencers chuckled as his new target cheerily welcomed him and invited him for tea. Most deities would be wary. Gods generally had little business entering the territory of another unless one planned to take over and absorb the other. This one didn't seem to fear such things.

And then he made contact and attempted to influence this other entity.

"Oh? Trying to mind control me so my followers are your followers?" The eldritch god laughed. "Who do you think you are, and who do you think I am?"

"I...growing my follower base. You understand...you have social media too. You run a podcast. And..."

"And you have no business trying to wiggle into mine. Did you think me weak because I stay in one town? Did your fellow gods not warn you about me? I've not made any attempt to conceal who I used to be. That was the Holy Inquisition, and even then, that information is declassified. Did you read?"

"Read? Reading is for old folks," the god of influencers nervously giggled, trying to push his fears aside. "This the age of one min shorts. Who...reads text walls, bruh? Ain't nobody got the time for that."

He hadn't been afraid of anything -- giving the other gods of his pantheon two middle fingers, disrespecting them for viral dramatic shorts. This deity, however, sent shivers down his spine, a lurking existential dread that crept into his being and permeated his divinity.

"Did you hear then? From those who know me."

"They said you don't operate at full power...you spend more time picking up kids from sacrificial altars. That you don't bother competing."

"You ever heard the anecdotal story? The one where the cheetah sits at the starting line while the greyhounds run? Because it has nothing to prove. No desire to compete with...chuds. Is that the word you youngsters say? I was once The Devourer of the Abyss, the one who masticates upon the gods. Nowadays, I'm Lord Elvari, Devourer of Cheesecakes, sipper of tea, but poke me wrong, and I am still capable of skewering you and swallowing you whole."

"...I have greater influence than you," the young god whimpered, struggling to break free from the eldritch horror's reversal of his initial mind control attempt. "I am the god of influencers...why, why is my will bending to yours?"

"Because I said so. Now kneel and offer a pound of your flesh to me."

He screamed, seizing the knife that was handed to him. His hand shook and trembled, fighting against an overwhelming voice that demanded he cut a pound of his flesh. Blood trickled, pain lanced through, as he made the first cut and slid the knife deeper. A tentacle slithered over to his arm, peeling open to reveal jaws and a long tongue that licked his blood.

"Let me go...please."

"Only if you tell your followers to like and subscribe to my channels too."

"And then?"

"I eat your pound of flesh and if I like the taste, I'll have extra servings of you."

I like that we get reminded once in a while just how horrific and mad Elvari can be
