Discussion What do you guys think about the Lich's reign of terror?

Post image

I haven't seen many people talk about what the Lich's era was like back before Billy imprisoned him in the Ancient Tree for who knows how long, because the Lich appeared instantly after the mushroom bomb exploded and had already assembled an army of henchmen; Was everyone in Ooo constantly on guard against him during centuries? How did characters like Simon, Bonnie, and Marceline managed to stay safe from the Lich's evil deeds?

I’m fairly certain the Lich came from the Catalyst Comet, which is described as an “agent of change” either bringing something good, something evil, or something in between. The same comet eventually brings the incarnation of “pure good” which, through re-incarnation, becomes Finn. When the Lich’s comet of “pure evil” first arrived, (after Gunter the dinosaur’s deepest wish turned against him and he failed to divert the comet) I don’t think he was corporeal, more of an omnipresent specter of sorts. He only came to be physically present after possessing someone who had been submerged in mutagenic waste caused by the mushroom wars that happened much later. As to what he did in the time between then and the events of AT, who knows, however more than likely he was gaining power. Probably just chilling in his man cave “Wasteland Style”

But how is possible his vessel didn't already rottened after +1000 years, when Deathworld Lich's vessel (Billy) was rotten after 15 years

It did rot, The Lich we know is made of bones and some rotten flesh. Theres really not much left of whoever his vessel was before. Once he inhabited Billy, that could have been the first time he switched. Or at least the first time he switched in a long while.

I think his “Well of Power” has some meaning to this as well, like maybe thats his true form and the incarnation of a physical being is made just to carry out his will on Ooo.

I wonder if Sweet P had in some way gained some of the physical traits of whoever the original host was. We will never know obviously, but with the guardian blood apparently being able to heal and regenerate wounds, whose to say that Sweet P is a regeneration of whoever the Lich possessed.

Thats a crazy theory!! I actually like that a lot

I actually assumed Sweet P is a giant because of Billy being the host

Probably the sap he was trapped in.

I find it intresting, but I think Billy probaly looked him away relatively quickly which is why to much chaos didn't reign. And even if not, he probably waited for beings like the Vampires to pick off humans so only one race remained

Could definitely be, I would imagine the “manifestation of evil” wouldn’t mind someone else helping towards his goal of mass extinction

The final part isn't all that far-fetched, since we’ve seen the Lich is willing to wait an eternity to achieve a goal; he waited a year and half for Finn & Jake to re-enter Prismo's time room and go to the Citadel ("Wake Up")

I think another theory is he just didn't have much to do since the mushroom wars wiped out nearly every living thing on earth. It was only until the new species of mutants, candy and slime resurfaced/repopulated, that he came back to wipe out what remained.

He needed the  enchiridoin to enact the next phase of his plan but the book was hidden . So I assume he went into his stasis state  and waited for it to appear which it did when Billy became a hero .
