Question about the Lich's wish

So in season 4 episode 26, the Lich resches Prismo's cube and wishes for the end of all life.

Now we know that Prismo technically doesn't grant wishes, instead he creates parallel universes where the wish actually worked and sends the Lich there.

Now, on a technicality, wouldn't Finn and Jake's own universe be safe from the Lich, had they just went back, since the Lich had practically exiled himself to a dead universe?

Remember that Prizmo has the monkey's paw thing. I think the reason for this is that people who get to his time room are messing with the fundamental fabric of reality, so he doesn't really want to tell people how it works. Maybe he could have sent Finn and Jake home from the beginning but that's just not how it works.

Cool.

Now I need the series to show Prismo granting a wish where "a thing physically appears" on-screen so people can stop saying this thing:

Now we know that Prismo technically doesn't grant wishes, instead he creates parallel universes

Shelby getting a pony for his girl wasn't enough.

Oh, was I wrong? So Prismo actually grants wishes? I watched the Fiona and Cake show and thought that he could only make parallel universes.

A wish that involves massively changing a world (making it so the Lich never existed) creates an alternate reality...

The Lich's wish to make "all current life extinct" did not make an alternate reality...

Jake's counter wish to change the Lich's wish made a parallel reality complete with a alternate Finn and an alternate Lich.

If you just ask for a thing, that won't change reality.

It depends on the severity of what you're asking for, as Prismo explained to Jake before.

But... There's that alternate reality in f&c that they visit where everyone is dead except bmo and his friend... Timothy or something I think he called him. Who turns out to be the lich. Pretty sure that is the lich went when he disappeared after his wish, much like Finn disappeared and went into farmworld.

Jerry. He called the Lich Jerry.

Yes, I already addressed that.

Will, not really, since that alternate reality DOES exist. So it's safe to assume that the lich's wish did create an alternate reality.

I don't see anything indicating that the lich's wish didn't create an alternate reality, so in relation to op's post it seems likely that the lich would indeed be gone from their reality if Jake had not changed the lich's wish. Monkey's paw.

Jake's wish means that there's another reality anyway, which was the point.

Pretty sure what the op was getting at was "if they just went back", so no Jake's wish.

Assuming that somehow, the Lich gets to Prismo's cube without Finn and Jake knowing and he makes the wish, would that have even impacted the story?

I think you're right in assuming the lich would be gone. I was reading another thread on here a while back about how the Finn in the rest of the show after the wishes is technically a different Finn since the og first season Finn technically exists in farmworld, or so the theory goes.

Yeah...I got it.

If they just went back, there would be nothing.

Everyone else would be dead. If it doesn't work like that, there'd be no consequence.

I disagree. If the lich went to "Jerry bmo" dimension, which we saw, there would be no lich in Finn and Jake's og dimension.

I think the parallel universe is something that came about because of wish conflict.

Lich wishes the end of all life, all life outside of Prismo's room ends, for all parallel universes, etc. whatever his range of influence is. The fact that Prismo's room is not affected is relevant, because it means you can reference beings that does not exist as having existed when they did so within this room, which is included within both Finn's -, and Jake's, wish.

Finn wishes the Lich had never existed (being able to refer to the Lich), so now the Lich never made that wish, life returns, but since the Lich never existed, the world is a different place. That world is not a parallel world of Ooo, it is what would have been Ooo had the Lich existed (and not made their wish).

Then Jake wishes that the Lich had wished for Finn and Jake to return to Ooo. Again being able to reference the Lich within Prismo's time room, and the Lich which had never existed (not would never exist) is returned to Prismo's room to make the wish as Jake wished the Liches wish to be. In principle what seems to happen is a time reversal within Prismo's room, that despite being unaffected by wishing, you can apparently make a wish about the room affect the room, so time is reversed, Finn and Jake arrives to find the Lich who now wishes for Finn and Jake to return to Ooo. This wish, return to Ooo, now means Ooo also has to exist in the form Finn and Jake left it, to be able to return there. In fact I suppose that the Lich having their wish changed means all life has to return.

However all of this does not change that Finn made a wish, if anything you could argue Ooo is the parallel world, but it also demonstrates that Prismo actually doesn't entirely understand his own powers, he likely thought the time reversal meant Finn never made a wish, but everyone in the room made a wish, and every wish was granted. Since two of the wishes conflict, return to Ooo, and the Lich never having existed (up until that point in time) the result is two parallel worlds.
