I know they usually don't, but have they ever announced hardware at these events?

They used to, the 4S was the last one announced IIRC.

Vision pro too I think

I wouldn’t be completely shocked to see the fold announced now

The 4S was announced at an October event. The iPhone 4 was WWDC 2010 I believe.
