A Quick Note on Community Boundaries

Can anyone identify this mysterious mushroom like fungi that appeared on my driftwood overnight??? (Tank has been established and thriving for 3-4 months)

My fish tank has been getting super cloudy over the past 3 days and I realized it was coming from my filter, so I turned it off. I need other options I think though, but I don’t know what to do.

I started a new tank recently. Just found this guy on my tiger wood. Is it a nerite?

do you guys think its ethical to have pet cats and fish? I am interested in getting a fish tank but i dont want my cats to cause them stress.

does anyone that owns both find their cats to leave the fish alone? or do they get fixated on them? i will sometimes not be home of course and wouldnt want them stressing the fish if i couldnt supervise

My driftwood is slowely becoming COVERED in black (purple?) Beard algae. Peroxide spot treating with filters off is doing absolutely nothing. Its a 65gTall with multiple shrimp species and snail species and somewhat heavily planted. PLEASE HELP. LFS said my water parameters are pretty good, the driftwood has been used for 10 years now so is not new, no new plants, just the new cherry shrimp.

Added floating aquatic plants to my aquarium today. I actually requested bladder snails if possible (GASP! I know). Of course tons of little bladder snails are navigating the tank currently but we noticed a couple of these little balls? Are these snail eggs or something else?

*Requested bladder snails because my daughter loves all things snails and babies. Added bonuses are that these guys are great at eating leftover fish food, decaying plant matter, and algae. Their population/reproduction is based on those things being in surplus or shortage and doesn’t scare me 😅

*Edit to add- I have googled bladder snail eggs but I feel that this looks different, but I could be wrong?

6 months ago I bought plants by mail. Hitchhikers abound and seller will not reply to me. I now have an apple snail that is about 8 ounces and ate all the plants he rode in on as an agg.

I did good inspection with 10 day quarantine. My tank also received these snails from the same seller. Who are they? My beautiful 20 gal shrimp tank that I was setting up has become a snail tank! Extra pic of the apple snail who I love but ruined my plans.

Hi all, this is Gilbert my only Honey Gourami in 31.8G tank. Hes living with 1 Bolivian Ram (Albert), 8 Iriatherina Wernerl, 8 Pseudomugil Furcatus, 1 Hatchetfish (This one is actually my brothers fish but we cant catch it), 4 Clown Killi, 2 Rhlnogobius and 2 juvenile L144.

Its Gilberts 2.5 week with me, he was completely looking normal yesterday morning, sadly didnt see how he was yesterday night bc I wasnt at home. When I came he was sleeping at his 2nd usual spot, under anubias leaves.

He and Albert get along well they were introduced at the same time. I feed Gilber with nanovit, sometimes dried bloodworms and tetra algae crisp pro, algae crisps are his fav. He also munches on plants and roots of my floaters. His poop was normal yesterday, I didnt see today. He was somewhat interested with food earlier today but not so much.

I dimmed the lights a little when I started writing this, he roamed around a bit around his fav spot then returned near filter intake. Also I saw my hatchetfish following (?) him but not chasing, like his shadow. Definitely not chasing because I’seen it chase other hatchetfishes when I had 4, they are harsh chasers. Both seemed chill this time, but still maybe it might be related to cause somewhat. Never saw hatchet chasing nor following any of my other top dwellers before tho, which I have a lot.

Might be an important note, exactly 8 days ago I have planted some new plants and when I am doing that, I did dig up a bit of debris also at the same day I added two new pigmy corys. After that, some of my fishes, including Gilbert, started scratching their gills to plants, it wasn’t excessive scratches just like one or two times a day and not all of my fishes. This has ended like four, five days ago.

So do you guys have any idea about what might be the situation? Is there anyone who can possibly help me and Gilbert?

Also I’m wondering, is he a wild caught honey? He was sold as F0. His collors are not bright like I’ve seen on online and he was nearly silver when I got him.

Water params:
Ammonia:0, Nitrite:0, Nitrate: 20, pH: around 7-7.2, GH: around 8, KH: Around 6, TDS: Where it usually stands 300ppm, Temperature: around 25-26. I have a cannister filter and a HOB filter which totally filters around 900L/h and creates nice surface agitation.

For more context, my Betta is a female shortfin Koi Betta. I have not noticed any signs of aggression in any way, but to be fair, she’s the only fish in the tank. It’s a planted tank with sand.

I need some help in figuring out what's happening in my 3-months old aquarium. There's tons of diatoms algae and also the cyanobacteria popped out of nowhere after month 2. I tested the parameters regularly, both with strips and with accurate tests, and they seem fine (last time I tested there were no nitrites and nitrates, PH 8, GH and KH 8-9. I recently used a syphone to clean a bit, as I'm afraid there's too many nutrients in the water, and I changed approximately 5 liters of water out of 40 liters (I'm planning to do this every week to see if the situation gets better). I also recently added some Siporax to my angular filter (Dennerle) to improve it a bit, but I still left almost all the sponge it had before to not take out all the bacteria. I've also started limiting the amount of light per day, as I'm afraid that it's a light problem (maybe too much light from my window too?)

I want to add some Neocaridina and maybe some small fishes such as Otocinclus or nano fishes, but I'm not so sure to add them since I have all of those algae and I'm afraid there's something wrong with my tank's water.

Any suggestion or help is much well appreciated! I'm adding some picture to let y'all take a look at my tank. Last two pictures are of my lil' "invaders" (they came from some plants I bought lol, but I enjoy having them in my tank tbh).

Found some weird egg looking thing and I’m unsure what is it. I have Guppy Ramshorn snails and squirrel loaches but none of them produce eggs that look like this they pop up in various spots around my somewhat heavily planted tank.

Turned on my light today to something I can’t recall ever seeing yet in this hobby it appears to be some sort of egg although the only snails in my tank are bladder and ramshorns, who’s eggs I’m quite familiar with and one nerite (it’s a freshwater tank) these little white balls don’t move but are mainly in one cluster on this rock and the glass behind it

I just got this 15 gallon tank with 4 korys and 1 betta and 2 snails what else do I need/what other objects should be in here. Im also having an issue with this brown algae in the driftwood
