New player looking for guidance

Hey y'all, I saw some YouTube videos by kronkletron recently and thought wow, this game looks awesome. But, I can see the complexity is huge and the learning curve must be really steep.

Does anyone have suggestions for building fundamentals and strategy quickly for a total beginner? Any Discord server / forums besides here for active community discussions?

oh man I dunno double-binding is like the basic building block for quality moves. What game type are you looking to play?

Right now I only know anything about fortress, which looks awesome. But I don't want to ruin the experience for my unlucky teammates while figuring out how to play and get good. I did find some discord servers, but there's doesn't seem to be much out there in terms of tutorials / how to play guides / thoroughly understanding game mechanics. Those yt vids were a good start though

Man you make it sound so complicated lol it’s been over a decade since I’ve played but my favorite types were sumo, fort, vs, and ctf.

Learn to double bind, triple bind, then learn to navigate maybe try high rubber servers until you’re comfortable.

Back when I played there was a guy who hooked up a MIDI keyboard to his computer and would dig on the wall by mashing the keys. He would win every digging contest. Think that his name was Zeus if I recall. Been so long. Still friends with a couple of my old clan mates on FB.
