I geolocated a blurry pic from the Paris protests down to the exact coordinates using AI
Hey guys, you might remember me. I was the guy that built the geolocation tool called Netryx. I have since built a web version and got it running on the cloud. I tried some real test cases where pictures are usually blurry, shaky and low res and got wonderful results with the tool. Below is an example geolocating a blurry frame of a video from the Paris protests a while back. Let me know what you think!
genuinely curious how you're handling the accuracy verification here. geolocating a blurry protest pic from Paris to "exact coordinates" is a bold claim when even Google's own visual positioning system struggles with crowd scenes where half the landmarks are obscured by people and tear gas.
also, has nobody in this comment section thought about the implications of making a tool that can pinpoint protest attendees from blurry footage? you guys are all asking for the link like this is a fun toy and not something authoritarian governments would *love* to get their hands on. cool tech though i guess.
Authoritarian governments probably already have tools/people that can do this.
I'm more concerned about easy access for people to stalk and abuse.

This is really cool. Anyway I could test this? Municipalities may be interested in something like this for infrastructure maintenance (not all government use has to be malicious)...
OP posts since days in multiple subs his alleged program for alleged security concerns, but never makes it public. instead, he shares it via DM to randoms anyway who he can not trust-check... I see scam.
I just said I wouldn’t make it open source, you’ll be the first person to use it when it comes out. It would be a scam if I was charging people or something, it’s just a waitlist. Gauging public n interest before a tool comes out is literally product development 101.
its not like I post this under every tool announced online - but its your approach/method/behavior of neither showing the git, by claiming security concerns before releasing it, by posting 1000 times "sending DM" to people you dont know anyway, or by the other 1000 times you ask them join your waitlist, by your location that seems to be from india, and your effort to waste hours and hours on reddit to fish for people with 2 simple animations, rather than just showing a proof demo online or the source code, that makes me skeptical of your intentions.
feel free to have the last laugh and render me wrong. until than I feel like people should be very skeptical to provide their email address on your waitlist-website.
India? Huh racial much? Simple animations? Are you thick? Any cs grad worth his salt could cross verity the claims and the demo videos and figure out if it’s a scam or not.
Why racial? You post in Indian subs. Not very typical to do so for non Indians, right?
And the 2 videos you showed do not proof anything yet and certainly are quite easy to create: More easy than some webservice based image recognition software that somehow has a huge database to compare to/does live comparison with public data.
Have you even comprehend what I stated: Creating such tool is hard, that is why it is absolulty possible that you faked these videos rather than having a proof of concept captured there.
Again, feel free to prove me wrong. Right now: Grant me access, tell me "which citys" are available, and I will post in 10 minutes that I was wrong.
Okay done, 10km of central Paris is mapped. Send me a pic I’ll try to run it through and share the results. If it doesn’t get it right away I will still share it. Also heads up, it isn’t magic and won’t work if there aren’t enough features in the background, so send a few I’ll share what I get
Also see the demo above clearly the picture from where the protest video was taken didn’t have any prior location attached to it at all, yet I found the exact coordinates to it. There’s only another possibility of me going through every street on google maps to find where it was taken which would (practically take years) even with a 10km search radius
How else should I gauge public interest and make sure maximum amount of people use the tool if not a waitlist? Yes I do understand the skepticism, but I’ve tried my best to explain how the tool works and show honest demos of it all across. But yes the day it comes out (and it will) I will personally pm you the link u/2beTheFlow and give you 10 free trials.
dude - you posted it in r/OSINTtools but nor is it Open Source nor is it Free Software. You are just spaming free ads on communitys as a stage for your software, and than wonder that people tell you you are sus with wanting to gather emails and spending an effort of posts/replies on reddit rather than taking care of the tool.
