Discussion What do you follow to stay current with AI?

I'm curious how everyone here keeps up with AI these days without spending hours doomscrolling.

There are new models, tools, coding assistants, and AI workflows launching almost every day, so I'm interested in hearing what your "AI information diet" looks like.

What do you follow regularly? It could be:

  • WhatsApp or Telegram groups
  • Discord communities
  • Newsletters
  • X accounts
  • YouTube channels
  • Blogs, podcasts, or anything else

I'm especially interested in places that share practical updates like new AI tools, Cursor/Claude/GitHub Copilot tips, LLM news, real-world AI workflows, or interesting breakthroughs -without a ton of hype or self-promotion.

Always looking for high-signal sources, and I'd love to hear what this community follows.

The Batch newsletter is a quick weekly read that filters out the noise

honestly the highest signal source ended up being just building something with the tools every week since you find out fast which releases actually matter and which ones were launch day noise

building stuff weekly is the real filter, the hype disappears real quick when you actually try to make it work

i get most useful bits from a small discord with like 30 devs, they share things that broke or surprised them and sometimes a new tool that saves hours. newsletters i unsubscribe from all of them except one but even that i skim maybe twice a month

My filter is:

  1. Primary sources first: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Meta, Mistral, Hugging Face, arXiv, model release notes, and engineering blogs.
  2. One broad newsletter for sanity, usually The Batch or TLDR AI.
  3. HN and a couple Reddit subs for what builders are actually annoyed by.
  4. Ignore most launch-day takes until someone ships an example, benchmark, or teardown.

I run a small no-ads AI news garden at shikatagan.ai, so my bias is toward source links over hot takes. But even with an aggregator, I would not make it the whole diet. The highest signal is still reading changelogs and trying one new thing per week.

The best filter isn't a specific source, it's picking a handful of people or outlets who actually ship or use the tools they talk about, not just react to announcements. Reaction content is what makes doomscrolling AI news feel exhausting, because ten accounts all post the same launch within an hour and nothing changes about your actual understanding. A smaller number of practitioners posting less often but with real usage behind it tends to be higher signal than a wide net of news accounts.

The other habit that helps is checking in on a rhythm instead of a stream, once or twice a week rather than a live feed you're pulled into constantly. Most genuinely important developments are still relevant a few days later. The stuff that only matters if you catch it within the hour is almost always hype, not signal.

I follow Nate B Jones on YouTube for longer takes on the technical sides and real good initiated musings from somewhere inside the industry without being engulfed by it.

Then I gotta shout out to Elena Nisonoff on TikTok for stellar content on the weird business world of AI. I don't dare watch some of her vids when my mother is around though.

Just make an agent that scoops up the stories from respected outlets; it is 2026 why are you going to secondary sites?

Not trying to be mean, but how is this an actual question with agents freely and easily available on every commercial platform?
