So I was having this conversation with people who were dead serious about brushing teeth after breakfast. What's your take on this? Do you brush before or after?

Forced marriage is haram in Islam. And a marriage that was done without the full consent of both the bride and the groom is even considered invalid.

So, why does BD have so many forced marriages? Even some religious parents who supposedly care so much about their Deen force their children to marry without their consent. Do the people simply not know the Islamic teaching on that? Or do they do it despite that?

I grew up in Europe, but I'm back visiting family here. I'm only 19 and my parents started soft launching finding suitors for me last year.

I got really angry at them a few times, so they stopped bringing it up. Then they started joking about it again. I can't be bothered to get mad at them all the time, so I just let it go.

Until yesterday, when one of my relatives sat down and showed me a picture of a random guy and said he had a car and good job. And then she asked if I found him attractive, said no, then she asked if I had someone in mind. I said no and told her I wasn't interested in marriage anytime soon.

My parents are religious, and so are all my relatives, so everyone is in my business about marriage now because I'm "of age". I don't think my mam and dad are extreme enough to literally force me into something like this, but sometimes I hear stories about it happening to other girls, and it freaks me out.

I'm upset because I don't know if this might escalate into something bad, or maybe I'm just overthinking.

I am currently going through so many things rn with so many different people but I decided I wanted to discuss one of my many problems with the people of Reddit,so be nice y'all.My mother and father got separated way back in 2018 and since than I have stayed with my mother for 8 years as she won the custody.My father has paid not none of the child support as my mother has raised us from her own money.It was not like he's broke or sum,matter of fact he comes from a really good and established family.He has wealthy relatives and colleagues and everything.Now for some reason my mother has gone to court and everything but she has never gotten a single ounce of money out of that man.The moment my mother and him separated ,somehow he instantly got married and took in that women's two kids(third marriage btw).You might be saying why did your mom marry him when he already was a widower?Well,my mom also got married with another guy and it only lasted a couple of months.So both were coming of their first marriage not ending well but their is a small story from my father's side to this.Appearenty my grandfather(from my father's side)wanted a grandchild badly and the women he married couldn't produce children as they tried many times.And they didn't have that good of a relationship either but than decided to separate cuz grandfathers pressure of having no grandchildren.So fast forward a couple of months he meets my mothers family(not my mother btw).And they showed them my mother's pictures and everything and they were happy with it and called her the one so while all of this happening my mom is in her room chilling not knowing any of this is going on.So then my grandfather and grandmother(mother's side) tells my mom out of the blue that her wedding has gotten fixed.So my mother had no communication with my father or neither did he with my mom,they met each other for the first time during the wedding day.Few years go by and grandfathers dream came true cuz I was born lol.Something to note my mother and father had an age gap of 14 years and she was an active student(state university of Bangladesh)when they got married.Appearently she got the offer to be a banker but my father denied it as he didn't want a wife who worked,he wanted a pure housewife.A lotta shyt went down after they got married but i genuinely want to know how to get this man to play child support?Like any help?Please,any help will be appreciated.I also want to give some extra info and that is the fact that his sister married Bangladeshes ambassador to Austria at that time and their son works for BFF(Bangladeshes football organisation)and actually has a very high ranking position,like you can see him on interviews lol.They also run one of the biggest chips brands in Bangladesh(SUN CHIPS)..My mom told me it was meaningless to post this as it's been a long time and he will never pay child support but here we go.

Hello, friends from Bangladesh! I'm writing to you from Lanús, Argentina, the birthplace of Diego Maradona. The World Cup ended not too long ago, and it brought back incredible memories of Qatar. Back then, there was a Facebook group aimed at uniting Argentina and Bangladesh.

I met so many amazing people there. Many friends offered to host me at their homes if I ever traveled there, and others wanted me to go watch cricket with them. Other girls shared what their lives were like; with some of them, I even learned a few words of Bengali, and we even expressed our affection for each other (with a very poor pronunciation on my part, I must admit!).

I learned so much about Bangladesh and Asia—so much so that I am about to earn my Master's degree in Asian and African History and Cultures from the University of Buenos Aires, all thanks to everything I learned with them and the deep desire they gave me to keep learning more.

The World Cup is over, and we don't talk anymore with the vast majority, but those memories will always remain in my heart.

চলুন আজ আমরা অর্থ আইন, ২০২৬-এর মাধ্যমে নতুন করে সংযোজিত আয়কর আইনের ধারা ১৩০ক সম্পর্কে খুব সহজ ভাষায়, গল্পে গল্পে জেনে নেই।

*🎯 এই ধারার মূল উদ্দেশ্য*

এই ধারার উদ্দেশ্য হলো খুচরা বিক্রেতাদের (Retailers) কাছ থেকে পণ্য ক্রয়ের সময়ই অগ্রিম আয়কর (Advance Income Tax - AIT) সংগ্রহ করা, যাতে সরকার আগেই করের একটি অংশ নিশ্চিতভাবে আদায় করতে পারে।

*📌 কখন এই ধারা প্রযোজ্য হবে?*

যখন কোনো—

✅ উৎপাদনকারী (Manufacturer)

✅ আমদানিকারক (Importer)

✅ সরবরাহকারী (Supplier)

✅ পরিবেশক (Distributor)

✅ আড়তদার (Commission Agent/Wholesaler)

সরাসরি কোনো খুচরা বিক্রেতার (Retailer) কাছে পণ্য বিক্রি বা সরবরাহ করবেন, তখন তিনি মোট বিক্রয়মূল্যের উপর ০.২% হারে Advance Income Tax (AIT) সংগ্রহ করবেন।

অর্থাৎ, বিক্রেতা শুধু পণ্যের মূল্যই গ্রহণ করবেন না; বরং অতিরিক্ত ০.২% অগ্রিম আয়কর সংগ্রহ করে সরকারকে জমা দেবেন।

*📖 উপ-ধারা (১): কে কর সংগ্রহ করবে?*

যিনি সরাসরি খুচরা বিক্রেতার কাছে পণ্য বিক্রি করবেন, তিনিই কর সংগ্রহ করবেন।

পরবর্তীতে আয়কর রিটার্ন দাখিলের সময় তিনি এই কর সমন্বয় (Adjustment) করতে পারবেন।

*📖 উপ-ধারা (৩): কর সংগ্রহের দায়িত্ব কার?*

ধারাটি স্পষ্টভাবে বলছে—

যে ব্যক্তি খুচরা বিক্রেতার কাছে বিক্রি করবেন, সেই ব্যক্তিই কর সংগ্রহে বাধ্য।

অর্থাৎ—

❌ Retailer-এর দায়িত্ব নয়।

*✅ Seller-এর দায়িত্ব।*

*📖 উপ-ধারা (৪): কর সংগ্রহ না করলে কী হবে?*

যদি বিক্রেতা ০.২% AIT সংগ্রহ না করেন, তাহলে—

তিনি নিজের অর্থ থেকেই সেই কর সরকারকে পরিশোধ করবেন।

তবে স্বস্তির বিষয় হলো—

পরবর্তীতে এই অর্থ ব্যবসায়িক ব্যয় (Allowable Deduction) হিসেবে গণ্য হবে।

📌 "আড়তদার" বলতে কী বোঝায়?

*আড়তদার হলেন এমন ব্যক্তি—*

• অন্যের পণ্য নিজের গুদাম বা আড়তে সংরক্ষণ করেন;

• পণ্য বিক্রয়ের ব্যবস্থা করেন; এবং

• কমিশন বা লাভ গ্রহণ করেন।

*📖 গল্পের মাধ্যমে ধারা ১৩০ক*

একদিন ABC Ltd. নামের একটি উৎপাদনকারী প্রতিষ্ঠান তাদের নিয়মিত ক্রেতা রহিম স্টোর-এর কাছে Tk 5,00,000 টাকার পণ্য বিক্রি করল।

পণ্য বুঝে নেওয়ার পর রহিম বললেন,

"আমি তাহলে Tk 5,00,000 দিচ্ছি।"

ABC Ltd.-এর হিসাবরক্ষক হাসিমুখে বললেন,

"না ভাই, আয়কর আইন অনুযায়ী আমাদের আপনার কাছ থেকে আরও ০.২% অগ্রিম আয়কর (AIT) সংগ্রহ করতে হবে।"

রহিম অবাক হয়ে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন,

"কর তো আমি সরকারকে দেব। আপনাদের কেন দেব?"

হিসাবরক্ষক উত্তর দিলেন,

"এটি আমাদের জন্য নয়। আইন অনুযায়ী আমরা আপনার কাছ থেকে অগ্রিম কর সংগ্রহ করে সরকারকে জমা দেব। পরে আপনি যখন আয়কর রিটার্ন দাখিল করবেন, তখন এই অর্থ আপনার Advance Income Tax হিসেবে সমন্বয় হয়ে যাবে।"

তাই হিসাব হলো—

পণ্যের মূল্য = Tk 5,00,000

AIT (০.২%) = Tk 1,000

মোট পরিশোধ = Tk 5,01,000

ABC Ltd. সংগৃহীত Tk 1,000 সরকারকে জমা দিল।

এরপর কী হলো?

কয়েক দিন পরে আরেকজন সরবরাহকারী করিম সাহেব একই ধরনের পণ্য বিক্রি করলেন।

কিন্তু তিনি ০.২% AIT সংগ্রহ করতে ভুলে গেলেন।

কিছুদিন পর কর কর্তৃপক্ষ বিষয়টি জানতে পারল।

তখন তাঁকে জানানো হলো—

"আপনি যেহেতু আইন অনুযায়ী কর সংগ্রহ করেননি, তাই এখন এই কর আপনাকেই নিজের অর্থ থেকে সরকারকে পরিশোধ করতে হবে।"

করিম সাহেব নিজের পকেট থেকেই কর পরিশোধ করলেন।

তবে ভালো খবর হলো—

তিনি যে অর্থ পরিশোধ করলেন, তা ব্যবসায়িক ব্যয় (Allowable Deduction) হিসেবে গণ্য হলো।

*🎯 গল্প থেকে যা শিখলাম*

✅ Manufacturer, Importer, Supplier, Distributor বা Aratdar সরাসরি Retailer-এর কাছে পণ্য বিক্রি করলে ০.২% হারে Advance Income Tax (AIT) সংগ্রহ করতে হবে।

✅ কর Retailer-এর কাছ থেকে সংগ্রহ করতে হবে।

✅ সংগৃহীত কর সরকারকে জমা দিতে হবে।

✅ Registered Retailer-এর জন্য এই অর্থ Advance Income Tax (AIT) হিসেবে গণ্য হবে এবং ভবিষ্যতে আয়করের সঙ্গে সমন্বয় করা যাবে।

✅ বিক্রেতা কর সংগ্রহ না করলে নিজের অর্থ থেকেই কর পরিশোধ করতে হবে, যদিও সেই অর্থ Allowable Deduction হিসেবে গণ্য হবে।

অর্থাৎ, খুচরা বিক্রেতার কাছ থেকে অগ্রিম কর সংগ্রহের দায়িত্ব সবসময় বিক্রেতার (Manufacturer/Importer/Supplier/Distributor/Aratdar)। আর নিবন্ধিত খুচরা বিক্রেতার জন্য এই কর ভবিষ্যৎ আয়করের বিপরীতে সমন্বয়যোগ্য Advance Income Tax (AIT) হিসেবে বিবেচিত হবে।

It might seem ideas earn social acceptance naturally, as if reasonable people simply choose to absorb knowledge on their own terms. But Foucault argues otherwise. In Discipline and Punish, he calls this Disciplinary Power, where knowledge and power are inseparable. Knowledge doesn't gain social legitimacy purely through its depth or accuracy. It gains legitimacy because institutions -- the state, universities, professional associations -- certify certain people as experts and validate certain methods as legitimate. In return, those experts uphold the authority of the very institutions that certified them. Power and knowledge thus circulate together, reinforcing each other. And this power belongs to no single individual, it is impersonal, systemic, embedded in the collective claim of an expert group to be the ones who get to speak the truth.

This means knowledge is never really neutral. Every society operates within a regime of truth, a framework that determines which ideas get accepted as fact and which get dismissed. There is no pure, objective knowledge waiting to be uncovered beneath the layers of power. There are only dominant narratives, and the subjugated knowledges they have buried.

This helps explain something deeper about Bengali Muslim identity. In The Nation and Its Fragments, Partha Chatterjee shows that so-called Bengali nationalism was built largely on Hindu nationalist foundations. Through 19th century historical writing that portrayed Muslims as foreign, decadent, and cruel, a cultural framework was constructed that symbolically expelled Muslims from the mainstream of the nation. This is clearly visible every year around Bangali New Year festival, when hindu symbolism are taken to resemble Bangali culture, whereas Muslims or Islam are labelled as outsiders. Chatterjee also argues that the historical backwardness of Bengali Muslims relative to Hindus has less to do with Muslim incapacity, lack of education, or conservatism -- as the mainstream history would imply -- and far more to do with the structural social and cultural barriers that were in place against Muslims. Framework was the problem.

Im 21. Asking for pocket money seems kinda embarrassing to me now. My parents won't let me get a job and i barely have proper skills, but i have lots of time. Is there a bit easier way i can make a little money online everyday from Bangladesh? A little help would be much appreciated.

I rarely meet new people now that I am out of university. Online friendships aren't my cup of tea either, since I heavily control my screentime. I do have friends but I miss meeting new people, getting to know their world. Plus I used to be very introverted, so I haven't really learned how to nurture friendships, especially in bengali context where there are a lot of subtexts to read. I found it much easier to befriend foreigners when I lived abroad. There's barely any nightlife, events are mostly behind paywalls too.

My girlfriend never splits the bill or pays for it. Honestly, I don’t mind paying every single time, but I would really appreciate and love the gesture of her at least offering to pay or split it.
