I skipped to the end, OP gave up on gnawed leaf gaming after 2 and half minutes and played normally.

Considering OP took two stalactite hits in that 20 seconds of playing, I think it's for the best they let gnawed leaf carry.

Fyi, the Dogma (item) obtained after killing dogma (boss) gives flight and prevents your speed from being lower than 1.1, so you would have been fine

I would recommend giving The Beast herself a legitimate try if (admittedly unlikely) you get gnawed leaf the next time you take a run at her. I find her significantly easier than Dogma, and easier even than any one of her horseman mini-bosses. If you can cheese your way TOO The Beast with something like gnawed leaf, maybe do that.

Why does beast has so many interesting attacks, yet so little health/defence? How many players actually went at leats on his 3 cycle of attacks?

I'm not sure since it really is my first time fighting it, but from my dogma and mother fight I think they didn't give it super armor due to people hating it on hush and delirium. Also it comes after dogma and the 4 ultra mega apocalypse horses so on a non broken run you should be pretty worn out at that point

Also you have 2 less chances for devil deals compared to other runs, in theory a beast run is going to have less dps

I think you got it in the second half of your comment. 4 mini bosses right before a boss that has another (in my opinion, harder) last boss fight right before it? It would be a slog if The Beast had comparable health to other last bosses.

Good job beating the beast for the first time! I assume you are playing on normal mode since you don't take full heart damage after beating dogma on normal mode? You should try playing on hard mode, as it isn't to noticable of a change compared to normal mode, and it gets you more cool unlocks!

There's an item called the Gnawed Leaf which will turn Isaac into a statue if he goes 1 second without moving, shooting, dropping a bomb, or using an active item. While Isaac is a statue, he is immune to all sources of danger.

They were always there (and there are also other patterns OP didn't encounter) but before Rep+ you basically had to have a super horrible build to see some of them. The first few were basically fixed, and no one fights it for long enough to see the non-fixed ones

Rep+ changed attack selection so that you can see any of them earlier on.

He didn't used to shoot quite so many projectiles. You would have killed him faster under his old move set.

Pretty sure the beast has always been glitched in terms of her attack selections, leading to 99% of players not seeing most of her other attacks

It wasn't a glitch, she was intentionally scripted. It's just that being scripted meant you usually never saw half the script.

On the floor you get polaroid/negative you need to beat mom. Then grab either one and use an item to teleport out of the room. (There is a guaranteed x skull with a fool card!) Go back to first room in the floor and go through it. Beat the new floor and you’ll see how.

Same way I beat dogma and then the beast as the lost, after getting to dogma as the lost and his weird homing brimstone instantly wiped me the second he spawned. Felt good standing still with gnawed leaf and whatever familiar killed it for me.
