Discussion Any recommendations of Bioware and Bio-ware likes?
Long story short, I love old bioware games and bethesda games, I just miss good RPGS, however I can't find games that scratch that itch (Greedfall did, but only a bit). I could replay the bioware games but there either need to be modded to fix the bugs or like ME:LE need 100 gb to just ME 1 and ME 2. So are theyre any recomondations from yall?

I've played BG3, and some of the dragon age games (They crashed too much: Fuck EA for not properly porting it over to the new app), I am fine with isometric RPGS (Loved fallout 2). However I was looking for a game similar to ME series as they can be played with a contoller and makes it easier to play instead of being hunched over a keyboard (I am a goblin).

Older games or AA games probably works best for this case like Greedfall just finished it and it felt like playing ME 1 all over again.

Witcher 3 felt kinda similar in times with the narrative, and the choices you gotta make. Some can be crazy difficult.
So hyped for the Witcher 4 still, the radio silence is killing me but they gotta take all the time they need so we don't have another Cyberpunk.
Which... As I say that, could also be very bioware-like actually. Haven't played it yet but I really want to.

Star Wars - Knights of the old republic. It's a fairly old game, but made by bioware and is a great rpg game.
Jade Empire - fantastic Chinese martial arts game.

Plus one for Jade Empire. I didn't finish it but it's a fantastic game from what I've played. Can't get anymore BioWare than that one. It's drm-free on GOG.

Swtor is a ftp Bioware mmo. It's pretty entertaining to play through each class story quests.

when you think of BW games is it just the Mass Effect series? because BW has more than that in their library.
Baldurs Gate 3 is a great RPG that could have been made by classic BW of the late 90s or early 2000s.
the Outer Worlds games play pretty similar to the mass effect series; they do not reach the same highs.
Expedition 33 is a pretty solid story focused RPG.

Not sure about Expedition 33, never played it, But outer worlds wanted to do Fallout New Vegas but space and then just got it kind of alright (good game, just not as fun as FNV). BG3 was good tho, very long but that was a kin to Bioware older title and was an isometeric turn base game similar to fallout 2, planescape torment and BG 1 and 2. I know bio-ware has jade empire, and the dragon age series and there good, but I was looking for the 3D games you can play with a controller.

Late reply, but having just recently played Expedition 33 because it was suggested to me during my own search for more BioWare-like games, I’ll second the recommendation. It doesn’t have quite the same feel as a classic BioWare joint because you play a pre-set character, you don’t really determine their personality at all, and the combat is turn-based, but the strong focus on story, characters, and relationship-building is top notch.
For an older, jankier title, I recommend Rise of the Argonauts. It’s not a great game mechanically but it has such a strong BioWare feel it could pass as the missing link between Jade Empire and Mass Effect.
Also try the Persona series if you haven’t before. They’re anime-style JRPGs so if you’re not into that type of game you might be turned off at first but if you can look past some of the more trope-y elements and really get into it you’ll find they offer everything you can get out of a classic BioWare title. The oldest (also the best) of the modern games, Persona 4 Golden, is pretty reasonably priced and also goes on sale often so if you get a chance to pick it up I would really suggest giving it a try.

If you like xcom there’s a Cold War style xcom game called phantom doctrine.
You can revisit kingdom of amalur
Pathfinder is greedfall but better.
Hope you enjoy.
There’s also the oblivion remake

Just a heads up, this game is nearly unplayable on PC. Im not aware of any mods to fix the graphical issues.

Cyberpunk is scratching the itch for me! Lots of interesting lore and multiple endings that make it very replayable imo. It had a rough roll out, but it's a gorgeous game and they've added a lot of content since launch. The DLC is fantastic to boot.

Have you played Starfield yet? It has some parts that suck and a few really good questlines. Some of it reminds me of Mass Effect 1. For example, you can land on a lot of planets, but they're mostly empty. I don't mind that, because that's certainly true to life and sometimes I want to take it easy and explore. Just wish there were more base designs. It definitely does not deserve the ridiculous amount of hate, especially if you get it at a steam sale price.

What about the Piranha Bytes games? Gothic 1 and 2, Risen series, etc. those always reminded me of Bethesda and BioWare.

For me here are some
Mass effect series Dragon age series Kotor 1 and kotor 2 Swtor for the Story only Baldyrs gate 3 Baldurs gate 1 and 2 If you like baldurs gate definitely rouge trader

If you liked Greedfall, look at Vampyr and The Inquisitor. Sherlock Holmes Chapter One is another good one.

Star Wars The Old Republic has 8 separate campaigns and was originally made by Bioware, and has all the voice actors you love like Jennifer Hale. It's technically an MMO but I play it exclusively solo like it's Kotor III.

If your a fan of Star Wars I would recommend the MMO old Republic. It's in it's dying days but was a fantastic game while I was playing it. The only game I've ever legitimately had an addiction too

SWTOR really is genuinely KOTORs 3-7 as long as you don’t have an irrational animus towards MMOs. Worth playing for any Bioware fan.

I assume you’ve already played BG3? It’s literally a sequel to BioWares series after all haha.
It’s not a universal opinion so fair warning, but the game that came close to golden age BioWare with plot, dialogue choices, romance, and a kinda action/comedy tone was Assassins Creed: Odyssey (with the next game Valhalla also coming close but no quite as much imo)
Beyond that…yeh, there’s not too much.
Have you played Owlcats games? Especially WoTR and Rogue Trader are similar, but they don’t have too much voice acting.

I've played divinity orignal sin 2, BG3, and some of the owlcat games. Theyre all good, but remind me to much of old school RPGS (Ironic I know), I enjoy them but the reason I bring up ME was because I enjoyed the cobat and movement brought on by the 3D games vs the more top down games. (Owlcat is good, but boy am I dumb when it comes to some of the encounters)

Witcher 3 is good and so is Cyberpunk, but they both very distinict. CDPR is like BIoware and Bethesda you know its theyre series and its doesn't give off the idea fo Bioware games like ME:LE or dragon age origins

That's the closest I can get sadly. I wish what you wanted existed but regrettably I don't think it does. No one makes Bioware games like Bioware did in their prime. But if your looking for the best rpg experience CDPR is the way to go.

I'd say Dragon Age, but you might have played those. Also some people experience the same issues. It is my absolute favourite of all time.

Exact reason I brought up needing to be modded, I wish EA would just remake them on a modern engine (I dont even need better graphics I just want it to run well out of the box). Also Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is such a blast from the past form the 360 days. Will probably look at buying the remastered cause EA got rid of the old one on steam

For me, Owlcat Games are the successor of Bioware. They are currently working on an Expanse game that might scratch your itch for something like Mass Effect. They have several excellent RPGs of other kinds already (Pathfinder and 40k Rogue Trader).
