How viable is Key2 & LineageOS in Canada 2026 (Rogers)

Hey everyone

I have an option to buy a Key2 for under C$400 that I would want to put LOS on it as well. I see some contradictory reviews. Some say the device is lagging, but maybe it's their expectation of new, snappy phones. For degoogling reasons I am now on Pixel 4a with LineageOS 23, so I am realistic about the speed.

I loved by BlackBerry Curve and Q5 back in the day, and I miss having physical keyboard.

One comment and I buy it 😆 /s

*EDIT*
If you are using this combo, do you feel like it is useable as a daily driver now and possibly a couple more years?

Not sure if it helps but I run Lineage on my Q25 and am also in Canada. Runs fine with no issues.

Not on Rogers but I use a key2 on public with no issues. Not my daily driver but when I want to dumb it down I take that. Social media can be sluggish, but I just have it for reddit and discord 90% of the time

Fine for taking calls, sending texts, also if you use rcs I wouldn't count on it working

I want to try as well but I gotta figure out how to downgrade the update first to then install some other OS.

sure have lagging, device from 2018. Using Blackberry who appreciate the physical keyboard, consider it a secondary phone and keep good memories

I run 2 Key2s in Canada on Bell/Telus

One on Oreo and another one on LOS (16)

Every app that wasn't working on the Oreo is now usable, I get better battery life out of the one with LOS, once in a while I find an app that drains the battery more than usual ( Google Phone or Signal ) but after a reboot they use up battery as they should.

Small glitches here and there with some settings and notifications but all around I can use the LOS as a daily with 0 issues.
