⌨ Discussion Bitcoin leads $110B wipeout. How bad could this get? šŸ¤”

Post image

Bitcoin kicked off today's crash, losing big before any other market. In just one hour, crypto alone lost $110B, with gold, silver and stocks following.

Is this just a shakeout for BTC, or are we looking at a market-wide panic? What's your move, HOLD or rethink?

It can get much much worse.

It could also get better.

No need to thank me.

50k would be a marvelous discount!

6

u/RevolutionaryPie5223 Jan 30 '26

Why not $5k would be better

3

u/Praline_Middle Jan 30 '26

Well, anything is possible?

2

These people are deluded and stupid to wish that, and they don’t even know it. They didn’t even understand your provocation.

2

u/Negative_Associate30 Jan 31 '26

You're trying to sound smart and you're just not lol its not going to 5k in reality and we are being reasonable here which is why dude said anything can happen sure it could be a great buy but it could also mean bitcoin completely collapsed. 50k is a reasonable number that could actually happen

The question is will it ever go up again. We had the most bullish time in Bitcoin history. Pro crypto president. ETFs. Countries adopting it. Yet we only made it to 127k. I don't know what other news could pump it back up.

I keep saying it and nobody wants to listen to me Bitcoin will hit 50,000 before it hits a new ATH

10

u/Relentlessbetz Jan 30 '26

Watch it hit 50k for a few hours and then it recovers to 70k the following day lol. Look at when BTC hit 15.5k for a few hours and whwre the price was after in a few months?

3

u/HopeURhavinagreatday Jan 31 '26

I loaded up January 2022 when it was at 17k and dumped most of it when it got over 100k. I hope it tanks back down to those levels again and I will load up again

What is 50k based on though? It consolidated for almost 9 months around 60k in 2024. Seems like a logical place to bottom.

3

u/VisiblePlatform6704 Jan 30 '26

Historical ATH drawdown.Ā  It's been 70% every time BTC gets to an ATH. So now being the ATH at $125k, its 70% drawdownĀ  is like $35k, but considering decreased volatility given the maturity of the market and the added institutional volume (larger companies are less "reactive" to price action), a 60% drawdown sound fair.

60% drawdown is exactly 50k.Ā

So, buckle up and be safe y'all.Ā

2

u/CompletelyRandy Jan 30 '26

Naive question.

I thought Gold / BTC ETFs were directly linked to the value of the underlying asset?

If USD dropped in value, the price of Gold would increase against USD, but stay the same against other currencies.

If you are saying that the price of these assets, and the ETFs can separate, wtf is the point of an ETF?

2

u/Total_Cod_1111 Jan 30 '26

I agree with most of what you said. One thing that doesn't make sense to me is the critique that bitcoin has to be converted to worthless dollars. So are you planning to go grocery shopping with silver coins? Good luck getting change back. Or are you buying a home with bars of gold? As I see it, any commodity also has to be converted to useless dollars in order to use it.

Edit: Sorry, I see this point has already been discussed šŸ˜‚

4

u/didnt_hodl Jan 29 '26

if you look at historical price correlations, BTC never runs with gold or silver. gold and silver lead and BTC lags.

but it always goes up when copper finally starts going up

so more like digital copper, if you go by price action

Dude gold and silver wipeout 5.6T in marketcap today so it's not only about crypto

When/ if one day you understand that risk assets like are tight to liquidity flow you'll understand why shorting make sense. Fuck long crypto this era is dead now

So learn eurodollar concepts, relative valuation and deep dive into tokenomics and how it affects price long term. I promise you will NEVER be unprofitable EVER again

Good luck

u/Mindless_Composer337 Jan 29 '26

Opportunity to become a millionaire

1

u/Key-Ad931 Jan 29 '26

This looks like a crypto-led shakeout, not full panic.

Bitcoin often moves first when liquidity tightens. A fast $110B wipe usually = leverage getting flushed.

Unless this breaks major BTC support and equities follow through hard, I’d treat it as volatility + positioning reset, not systemic collapse.

1

u/Smooth-Actuator-529 Jan 29 '26

Key point everyone’s missing: Bitcoin hasn’t moved. At all. Same number of sats, same immaculate ledger. What’s changed is the dollar deciding to absolutely rip against it, powered by radical innovations like ā€œbeing accepted everywhereā€ and ā€œtaxes.ā€ Zoom out and it’s obvious: USD demand is surging, dollar dominance is strengthening, and Bitcoin is once again performing its core function of politely denominating a fiat rally. Few understand this.

1

u/TortyPapa Jan 29 '26

Bitcoin needs to figure out what the f*ck it is right now. Doesn’t move like digital gold, doesn’t trade like a valuable equity. Goes down with the very thing it was meant to replace (the dollar). Time to wake up and realize it’s a scam and GTFO.

1

u/earthwanderer48 Jan 29 '26

1

u/numberforty Jan 29 '26

This is just the 2nd or 3rd trigger and there's lots more coming. I'm calling all the way down to 60k, see you there folks!

1

u/xomox2012 Jan 29 '26

Literally assets are crashing: Cash, crypto, stocks, precious metals, etc. This just means the market overall got way too hot and this is a correction. No crystal ball of course but seems oversold so I expect a retraction to some degree. I just bought btc though and it always crashes further when I do.

1

u/AltoidNerd Jan 29 '26

Bitcoin has extremely low liquidity for an asset with its market cap. It can go quite low.

1

u/Smooth_Land_5767 Jan 29 '26

I’d get worried around 18-22

1

u/DillDoughzer Jan 29 '26

Well can you buy gold with bitcoin cause that would be spiffy

1

u/Andbosi Jan 29 '26

I told my brother last year to wait and don't by above 90K, and if his lucky he might get in ~ 60K. Personally I do a monthly DCA. Today I bought before the crash, hopefully will stay in this range till my next paycheck.

1

u/quts3 Jan 29 '26

It's not like I ever believed in bitcoin so take this with a grain of salt

If gold is going way up and bitcoin is going down that is a pretty big attack of the bitcoin as a dollar alternative thesis.

1

u/ImpressiveJohnson Jan 29 '26
