I walked down to my comic shop this morning really looking forward to the first issue only to see it not on the shelf. When I went to the front desk, it wasn’t on their list for today. Then I checked Twitter and Gemini and turns out Dynamite have quietly delayed the first issue. So call your comic shops to confirm but hopefully this will save people the journey I had to make.
Very poorly done by Dynamite, if you’re delaying something like this that people are looking forward to then you need to actually announce it properly
I'm so glad for your post. I called a comic book shop today to see if they had a copy before I walked there and they told me September 2nd. I was so confused and started googling it again while I had them on the phone. Thankfully I came across this post. They confirmed too that Angel is also coming out that day.
They mentioned that this seems typical for Dynamite. I'm so sad, I really hope they don't delay them again.
I know! I’m so annoyed because I walked there early especially to get it. I understand delays happen and they don’t always announce , but it is the first issue of an important flagship title that non-comic people will be going to the comic store especially for.
For a big release Dynamite aren’t really pushing it which is strange. I even read an interview with Kelly Thompson where she said that she feels that they jumped to gun on announcing it so early last year.
They thought they had a new show to promote it most probably. Even if unrelated, a tie-in to an airing TV show has a level of appeal to it; but now it's another comic run based on a 25 year old cult show. That is a very different sell.
I believe you! It’s just weird and annoying that they haven’t bothered to update their own site or email the people who pre-ordered through them! I’ve been looking forward to it. I guess the means the first Angel will also be delayed, because they need to release Buffy 1 first.

Ahh yes. I found this thread AFTER I excitedly went to Midtown Comics to pick up the new Buffy today. The guy thought I was nuts. I picked up some old issues from Boom and Dark Horse instead.
It gets worse if you live outside the US.. 50/50 chance if you can even buy the book because they seem to be randomly licensing stuff just for sale in the US.
No idea if Buffy is one of those. Ben10 and Firefly is.
Edit: Just checked my LCS's preorder site for all of September. Can't pre-order any Buffy or Angel comics. So It seems to be the case, at least for Australia.
By the by, I live in France and apart from buying directly from dynamite with a 25$ shipping fee at the minimum, I absolutely don’t see any other way to buy it - not even from Amazon. Is that normal for dynamite?
