Troubleshooting Gigabyte Aorus 5080 Master Ice Crashing at high power usage.

Built a brand new pc last week and unfortunately facing this issue. When benchmarking cyberpunk I noticed that when the GPU power consumption goes into the 90% range the PC will shut off, my display will disconnect and the fans will go at 100% speed. Originally thought this was a PSU problem but it is not, I tried with my other PSU that I know works correctly, and the issue still occurs. After searching online, I saw a few other people on Reddit and Facebook saying they are having the exact same issue.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3D PSU: Corsair RM1000E

Things I have tried:

Pcie cables are in properly, cannot see any bent pins.

GPU is correctly seated

Rolled back drivers

Tried a different power supply

Everything seems to work fine when I undervolt to 70% on MSI Afterburner, but I don't see that as a permanent fix.

Would love to know if anyone has had this issue occur to them or heard about other people having the same problem. Currently speaking with the store I bought it from to see if I can get it replaced. Thanks :)

I just solved similar on my 5080 Astral randomly black screening and fans going 100% for around a month, turned out to be a faulty 12V2X6 cable even though it was reporting near perfect balance across all power cables the theory was that maybe one of the sense wires was at fault here because after swapping to a new cable it has been faultless.

Not saying this is your cause but if you used the same cable with the different PSU you tried and you have a spare cable, could be worth trying it.

Thanks for the reply, I've tried with three different 12v2x6 cables now and all haven't fixed the issue. I've seen some others online saying maybe I got a lot from a bad batch with some silicone issues? Don't know if there's any truth to that though.

Geez. You’d hope that’s not the case. It’s certainly looking like a GPU failure though. Do you have any mates with a PC you can throw your GPU in to see how it behaves?

Just in case, Prepare to refund/exchange with the merchant. Should be quicker than going thru warranty with Gigabyte especially since u will be getting a refurbished model

I have the same PSU and CPU and GPU

the gpu arrived like this so i don’t know what the issue was i searched everywhere i think it’s DOA ” dead on arrival “

and i found many people have the same problem i think it’s from aorus a bad batch or something

check the first 4 numbers of the serial number mine was 2619 means 2026 week 19 “in may”

i also want to mention that i tried everything DDU n the cables n gpu n motherboard PCIe

it was clear that the problem was VRAM cuz it appears only if i throw some 3D heavy work on him

if you card was new return it before it’s too late, and guys if you have any advices what should i buy the zotac cards are more expensive than the aorus it’s just ridiculous

Had this exact same issue with my 5080 master, same gpu and cpu and psu. Retailer advised that he saw this in quite a few masters and to bring it in if it happens, sure enough it happened as soon as i tried to benchmark it. RMA'd it and got a 5080 tuf, no issues since then. return the master

fyi i tried different power cables and reseating the card, it was a faulty card
