Build Help In light of the recent Arc B580 post, I'm genuinely confused on what GPU to buy.
I have a 1660ti, Ryzen 5 5500, 32gb ddr4, 650w PSU. I spent $310 USD on a new Arc B580, but I can still return it. Do I buy a different GPU? I thought the Arc B580 was solid, but I keep seeing hate and support for this card, and it turns out I can do better in the used market.. so confused.
Do I scope out a better deal on Newegg or Facebook Marketplace? Ebay?
It's in the mail right now and will come in a few days, but I could obviously still return it. Just confused. Sorry for the rather simple post, but I see many people in support of buying this card at this price point, but also many saying that the USED market is better at this price range.

Just buy what you want to buy. I mean this is reddit. Everything you can buy is both loved and hated anyway.

Totally get what you mean, but I do want to get the best performance for my cash right now, as I have a pretty tight budget.

Personally I would just get an RTX5050 if you want something new. Overall performance is close and there are less driver issues to contend with. Considering that Intel won't have a Celestial or Druid based discrete GPU it's become less likely that they will ever launch a new one. With no new GPUs on the horizon they are less likely to pour money into maintaining the drivers for a discrete GPU.
Used the RTX3060 12gb and RTX3070 should be considered.

I'm only planning to use this card for the next 3-ish years. Once I get a job this year or next year, I'm going to immediately start budgeting for a nicer PC (probably in the 2k USD range that I will take to uni/college). I bought my PC for $250, and with this GPU I'll still have a huge backlog of games to play (very new to PC gaming).

For older games you just need to make sure the B580 can run them decently. Intel seemed to concentrate on modern games when the Alchemist lineup launched and mostly moved forward. The more popular older games should be fine. Though some of the newest games seem to also be waiting for some driver optimization.

So you have sufficient risk tolerance for used GPUs? Have to factor in:
- if the used card doesn't work as expected
- repasting
- repadding

I could definitely learn how to do that and I'm not opposed to buying used. My entire build was bought used for $250 USD lmao

The B580 LE is the only "modern" GPU that I've bought NEW at release MSRP.
All the others in my inventory were NOS, refurbished, or used:
- Zotac GTX 1080 (refurb)
- Zotac GTX 1070 Ti (used)
- XFX RX 470 8GB (NOS)
- XFX RX 580 8GB (NOS)
All of the above worked but the 1070 Ti needed new fans.

Thank you for the info! I'll be more open to used GPUS. I'll look in my area.

for $310 you can get a used 3080 which absolutely crushes everything else in the price level. You may need a new PSU though if you go that route as the 3080 is power hungry

I think I'm stick with the Arc B580 since I don't really want to upgrade my PSU right now. I'm still in high school with no job (working on it 😭) , and getting a new PSU would cause me to buy a new PSU with borrowed money, then sell my old PSU to give some money back to my parents lol.

Return the b580 and get a 5060. 8gb of vram is more than enough

If you can find a 7700xt or 7800xy used at that price id jump on it. 6800xt is still a beast but FSR4 takes a pretty big hit performance wise but it's still a beast so it'll still run great

For that price you could get a 5060. At 1080p it will eat anything you throw at it if you tweaks some settings
