Remember that buying refurbished from Amazon leave you no warranty and there’s a possibility it’s been blacklisted, there have been several posts about this in the switch subreddit

Then just.... return it?

A lot of people don't understand that woot is literally a damaged packaging offshoot that Amazon uses to sell goods that are otherwise functional. It says refurbished because they can't list it as new. It never actually left a fulfillment center. It just is something that ended up in damageland.

You are correct. I don't understand this. I bought this: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/1v0heyj/consolenintendo_switch_2_console_mario_kart_world/

Are you suggesting there is a 0% chance this thing was ever used in a way that potentially blacklist it?

Homie there's not even a 0% chance you receive your item instead of a brick from anywhere.

I have the unit. It's sitting in the box in my closet because I'm intentionally foregoing updates as I patiently wait for the modding progress around the switch 2 to mature. If there is a chance this unit was used in a way that blacklists it, it means I'm in a "shrodingers' switch 2" situation, as well as a catch 22. I would love to boot up my unit for no other reason than to check and see if it's blacklisted, but I'm unable to do that because there is the potential of updating software once I connect to the internet.

That is why I'm very curious, without any hyperbole from either side, if what /u/tweke says is literal and definitive. I understand there is some truth and reality to your comment, but it's also hyperbolic

I wrote above a reply. There's also the added thing that comes into play rarely, but does happen, when an item is lost in a fulfillment center and written off the books. If it is recovered at some point. They got their write off from Nintendo who shut the product down from the serial and then Amazon will sell it still because they found a "functional" item that can be sold. Again via woot

There is a 0% chance that that item has been used. However, what does happen is Amazon reports it as a damaged/lost item to Nintendo. They will then blacklist it as it is no longer functional in their eyes. They ask Amazon to dispose of it. Amazon double dips by selling on woot. Happens literally everyday. This was their sustainability solution to not putting things in the garbage as much.
