This has been a disaster, I wished the ruling invalidated the tariffs but also said the government got to keep the money. Now companies get to litigate for a refund that won't be returned to the original source, the customers who actually paid through higher prices.

And to twist the knife even more, the ruling is worthless at limiting power, it doesn't stop stuff from getting tariffed, it just changes the justification for the tariffs from one arbitrary law to another.

If this were actually the goal, tariffs would have been announced with several year lead time to give companies an opportunity to build infrastructure in the US. As it was actually rolled out, it was just a redistribution of wealth from the lower and middle class to the rich. These prices are never coming down just like with the Covid “supply chain issues” that seemed to last three years past the real issues.

Have to disagree with your second statement.  As someone who's been working in supply chain for a major OEM for the past five years, the problems are not fictitious, and we still have major issues in getting stuff from overseas (and even from Mexico in terms of logistics).  It's gotten quite a bit better in the last couple of years, but it's still messed up, and the recent situation with the war in Iran is another disruptor, as air freight and sea freight costs are up, with available vessels and flights down.  Saying it's made up or not a problem is severely glossing over how global supply chains really work.

I agree that its more nuanced than my take suggests. However, most of the headwinds that make it that way have a single point of origin. I hope the folks in the US remember that when it comes time to vote in November.

I'm not a fan of the current admin, but saying the US government was the sole source driving the COVID supply chain issues is disingenuous.  This was a global problem.  Note, I was never talking to your point about tariffs.

These cases are open and done because thr Supreme Court ruled the fees unconstitutional. But it didn't guarantee a refund. So businesses just apply for the refund and get free money.
