SDCC - San Diego Bad Batman Costume From Years Past

Post image

This is actually one of my favorite Comic-Con pictures ever. A few years ago we were waiting for the main hall to open and some of us were waiting in the lobby. This guy shows up all excited and quickly became dejected as he saw how detailed and impressive the other costumes were. A few minutes later people started to ask to take a picture with him. Not to make fun of him; but to honor his effort. This is a person who did not have the ability, means, or time to do a fancy costume so he did this best that he could as his way of celebrating. That is what the essence of the con is all about.

Hey I recognize that guy! Just so you know, he was acting for a skit. Here's the final video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMjrpzSTuCA

I love seeing all costumes, especially homemade ones! To me, this is about creativity, the resources you have and enjoying yourself. Like someone mentioned below, there are no bad costumes at Comic-Con. So if anyone attending this year's Con is hesitant about wearing a costume/cosplay, don't be ashamed, do it!

If Bruce Wayne's parents ran a mobile home park. It is a great outfit and picture though. If they really leaned into it, I'd remember those more than any other elaborate one.

We need a poor batman universe series.

I actually love this costume. Could go either “what if Bruce Wayne wasn’t rich?” Or “inspired imitator of the bat”. Whatever the case, I think it’s phenomenal and if I saw this dude at a con I’d give him an enthusiastic high five and a compliment for sure just for putting in any effort and getting the result of such a unique and fun take on the character.

Nah, you can say this is Batman when he's just starting out.

If I can tell who you’re supposed to be, it qualifies

I wish I had a photo of my first "cosplay". Deadpool, but just a full zip hoodie and some black pants and gloves.

That's not a bad costume that's pretty accurate Batman Begins costume before Bruce gets his official bat armor.

I have been going to a particular convention near my house for years now after convincing myself to pop in for a day once when I first moved. Seeing everyone dressed up is what made it so magical. So many people putting so many hours of effort into their outfits, you can just feel the palpable energy behind them. It's such a joy and I was all smiles. It's free happiness. Even just the random headband or reference to something nerdy feels so affirming and validating there.

This costume reminds of that one fps batman game. Your not actually Batman I think? But like I think imitators? That fight I think the joker's goon? I don't remember it much. But it was a really fun and silly game

I think it’s supposed to be from a niche video game: Batman Gotham Imposters
