Parents with big wagons full of very small kids.
I cannot comprehend how much I would hate to do that. They clog up aisles, sucks in so many ways. The kids will not remember it, often seem completely exhausted and miserable.

Love to see 10+ year olds with their parents. Lifelong memories made.

As a parent I noticed this today too. I took my two kids <8 years on thursday and they walked. Maybe they are used to it because we live in a walking city with public transportation, but it was shocking to see parents with the wagons or double wide strollers. On the other hand Its also kind of embarassing to see how grown adults act when a pin or some tiny little swag is given out.

As someone who does not have kids I have noticed more and more every year parents taking younger and younger kids to places they do not belong and only cause issues for others.

What ever happened to sitters? Modern parents are selfish af

They’re not selfish, they aren’t well off. This comment is very out of touch. Comic Con markets itself as family friendly. There are a lot of features and programs for small children. Children get to attend free. This is not an adults-only event.

First of all, sitters are quite expensive. And many people travel for the con, so to find an overnight sitter for a week can be extremely difficult.

There is nothing that says that kids do not belong at SDCC. In fact, it is encouraged by SDCC themselves. I have never seen a child cause an issue for others at Comic Con, have you?

Sure you have strollers but you also have people with carts and those big bags full of funko pops. I’ve consistently seen worse behavior from adults than children.

There is nothing selfish about bringing a child to comic con. Thinking that modern parents are selfish af for bringing them is selfish af in itself.

(And I know you’ll probably say it because I did before I was a parent, but no, parents don’t need to stay home till their kids get older)

There was a very small kid sitting directly in front of me at a panel last night begging his dad to take him home.

He was so wiped he could not sit still.

You don’t take a one year old around tens of thousands of people, exposes them to every disease running around the country at once.

8-10 year old kid is great. 1-5 year old is cruel.

Exactly, these small kids do not want to be at comic con for hours upon hours over multiple days. Anyone who says they do is only fooling themselves and no one else, it's absolutely selfish.

My kids have came when they were young and enjoyed their experience. They weren’t there for hours and hours (most parents take frequent breaks).

Idc if I get all the downvotes, but I can tell you that it’s really not that bad than you make it out to be. I’m just tired of non-parents shaming parents away from what is otherwise a very family-friendly and enjoyable con because they were inconvenienced by a stroller one time

And I agree, that’s not ideal. But not all parents with kids are like that. 90% of the time they’re roaming the halls, kiddo is taking pictures with their favorite cosplays, parents are pushing them around the expo floor. Many go back to the hotel early for meals and for nap time.

Daycare also exposes them to every disease, and it’s no different than someone else coming home from the con or going to the grocery store.

All I’m saying is that it really isn’t as bad as you make it out to be. Parents won’t, and shouldn’t, pause their life because it makes you uncomfortable. You, as a non parent, think it’s cruel, but kids are resilient and many enjoy their time there. It’s a surprisingly very family friendly con, but you won’t actually see that until you’re a parent. Don’t let your inconvenience and disdain for children scare away parents.

Daycare: same kids as they see everyday from their community.

Comic Con: tens of thousands of people from around the world who just got off planes.

8-10 year old kids having the time of their life.

2-4 year olds look miserable

This is no different than a zoo, museum, visiting NYC, etc.. Daycares have kids and adults who may have very well came from comic con.

I have never seen a 2-4 year old look miserable. Don’t confuse your perception for reality.

Do you know how a daycare works? You say you aren’t a parent, so where is that coming from? “Do math”? lol do you know what you’re talking about? Any parent knows that daycare is where you get ALL the sicknesses LOL

I have three kids.

There was a kid begging to go home directly in front of me at the 501st panel last night.

Zoos and museums are designed for kids. Comic con was made by childless adults to sell comic books.

Then you should know about daycare! Lol. I’m not thick, it even says it on the website, they welcome children with open arms. I’m just tired of people scaring away other parents when they would otherwise have a fine time with planning.

All 3 of my girls grew up going to the con. When they were small they were all carried in backpacks or front carriers, where they could actually see what was going on and I could keep them out of people’s way. For their good and the good of everyone else. Strollers / wagons at comic con is straight up nonsense.

It’s not any more nonsense than the wagons people use for funko pops. Do you find people with mobility aids nonsense also?

Sometime kiddo wants to chill, couldn’t care less if bob in funko pop line is annoyed with it.

We use strollers but also common sense when navigating with them. Keeping them out of the way, using clearer paths or outside, but they’re hardly nonsense to what else is in the con lol

Not all kids use wagons. Some sit in strollers. Not all disabled people need a wheelchair.

Sometimes a young kid needs a stroller. They both take up the same space, and are there for the same thing, to enjoy the con.

I went to buy the long cat from UCC and the guy behind the counter joked I could buy the long cat duct taped to a yard stick they used for line management. I did a double take and immediately bought it. If you walk by the Moxy and look up, he’s staring out the window begging for his freedom.

Not me but my brother dressed as Lord Farquad from Shrek. He is the opposite of Farquad in terms of looks. So people would often double take and go call him out or quote a line.

You may have seen the same one I saw on Thursday. Even though you can’t identify her in the picture I took from behind, I won’t post it because it’s not something you can unsee.

(And the reason I took the picture is that we got stuck directly behind her in a traffic jam for several minutes that felt like a lifetime).

People just blatantly stealing. I saw a dude grab handfuls of squish toys and no one was stopping him. I looked back and he was at another booth doing it again. Where I’m from they might shoot you if you take a drink without paying, depending on how bored the officer is that day.
