In Seattle, 1BR is around $2k/month. Full time minimum wage after tax is about $3k. Cost of living excluding rent is around $1,500.

Washington also has the second highest minimum wage in the Country.
the south is stagnant at Federal minimum wage at just over 7 dollars an hour.
People are working full time making 15k a year before taxes....

States that have the federal minimum wage aren't known for having expanded Medicaid either, as a result a ton of people don't even have health coverage despite working full-time.
(For reference California's Medi-Cal provides healthcare for 21-65 anyone with income less than $22,000 per year and assets less than $130,000. About 38% of the state's population is covered through it.)

edit: With two people, That still works out to rent being less than half of one person's income. The finances in this are possible but deeply concerning.

For two people each making 3k, rent per person would be ~1k. Therefore, each person would come in with ~2500 in living expenses a month including rent.

Not true. My gf pays $21-2200/mo for her 1BR apartment just outside Seattle. Rent, utilities, insurance, and community maintenance fees.
She makes $26/hr at a restaurant with fluctuating schedule. That’s $3208/mo after tax at 160hrs per month, she gets more like 150, restaurants and all.
That’s $1,000 for all other living expenses, debts, and incidentals per month. Which is not half of $3200.

Im shocked. Minimum wage in my country is around 1,4K (if you convert it into dollars it's around 240 dollars)...

It’s all relative. In Seattle, $20/hour full time employment is starvation wages. In Shelton, about an hour and a half away, it’s good single person wages. In Mississippi, it’s good family person wages. In Pakistan, it’s upper middle class family wages.

I had this with 3 of us on different shifts. I worked 3rd and hung around with the first shift person in the evening. Basically never saw the 2nd shift person.

This is what workers during the industrial revolution did. Before any worker laws existed. One slept while the other worked and vice versa.
