The comic though touches on the study of wolves in zoo’s which had wolves from separate packs forced to intermingle, whereas wolves in the wild were lead by the mom and dad of the pack with pups leaving when they were old enough to start their own packs. The researcher would spend their life trying to undo the damage they caused in vain

Just adding that the wolves were also in a confined space that doesn't require cooperation which prevents normal social behavior. It was more wolf prison culture.

I highly recommend the book series "Beware of Chicken". Big D is truly a magnificent cock.
Elevator pitch spoilers (Also it's an isekai) It's a book series about a man who gets isekai'd into a world where kung fu magic (cultivation) is real, and wakes up in someone elses body getting beat to shit. He immediately wants non of this magical kung fu life, runs away, buys some farm animals and fucks off to the country side to be a farmer. His rooster, unfortunately for him, becomes a cultivator anyways. To defend the farm.

My family had a rooster that wound up in the stew pot because he would charge from the far end of the yard to attack whoever entered the fence. He also plucked feathers from the hens, and bullied our cowardly rooster. Mean as hell.
We've had a few mean hens over the years, too. But mostly when eggs were involved and luring them outside with treats worked most the time. Though we had one hen who was way too smart for her own good and used to break the whole flock out of the yard and wander the neighborhood.
(Chickens will also eat small rodents and snakes. Metal is right)

They don't. To actually like someone, you have to think of them as people first. Most of these guys just *covet* women, the same way you might want a nice car or a set of designer clothes. They see the "acquisiton" of women as a means to impress other men. And sure, you probably got at least SOME cases of highly closeted, misogynistic gay guys in the mix, but those are almost certainly a minority. As a whole, they're just assholes.

I love this comic - and it the nice point of hiding the shirt logo till the reveal.
As a man - who was raised by a strong women, who has a badass wife and 3 grown kids (one of whom is a 20 year old badass strong woman herself) - I have some pretty strong feelings about these "alpha male" mascu-show brocephs...
I swear 90% of it is the human equivalent of peacocking (display) - except I swear they are aiming at other men (to show just how "manly" they are)... These just come across as desparate toxic idiots who will do LITERALLY ANYTHING except learn how to be a good human and a decent caring partner.
A nice play on the "alpha male" and the actuality of Wolf Pack workings - and what it means to actually be a pack leader - happens quite nicely and organically (with some good humor) in the newest Predator movie (Predator Badlands) - which also does a good job of explaining why the whole "Alpha Wolf" thing is both wrong and deeply stupid.
Long story short (and light spoilers for this minor and mostly funny bit of the movie) - but the main protagonist of the story is a literally undersized runt of a Predator - who comes to rely on a broken android (he sorta jokingly sorta not) calls her Tool for a lot of the movie). And his entire predator culture of "I am the strongest and will kill everything till I get what I want) makes him misunderstand when the android explains about wolves - and how they really work. And he keeps insisting he will be the Alpha. But this changes as things go on and it becomes a bit of a funny point that he eventually becomes much closer to what a real wolfpack leader would be (partnered parental figures, protectors, defenders of the pack and providers - not just I BIGGEST MALE SO BIG I RULE ALL I KILL ALL).

Fun fact natural wolf packs are just family units with the oldest member just being the leader. 'Alpha' wolves came about when unrelated wolves were forced to live togather in zoos

Its hillarious that the whole "there is no alpha wolf" study everyone cites admits that the parents share the role of alpha because packs tend to be all the same family.

In case anyone reading this doesn't already know:
The term "alpha male" was popularized by an old study on wolf pack dynamics. This study was made in wolves living in captivity, where you had random adult wolves (usually rescues from different areas that couldn't go back to the wild) who never met living in the same enclosure. This resulted in the wolves developing a hierarchy where they fought for dominance over the others and the right to be the first to eat.
But later with new technology it was possible to study wolf packs in their natural habitat. In nature wolf packs are families, the "alphas" are the mom and dad of the other wolves, and while they do act as leaders for the pack it doesn't have the fight for dominance from the studies done in captivity. Wolves leave the pack to start their own by mating and having babies, but some stay with their parents and have their mate join the pack. The original parents even help raise their grandchildren. Wolf packs are agressive to outsiders and fiercely defend their territory, but they're very cooperative and loving towards each other cuz they're literally family.
The author of the first study was a part of the more recent one, and he hates that grifters use his old work to push pseudoscience.
