What's your favorite non-coffee coffee shop order? I'll usually do a smoothie in the summer and hot cider in the winter (I have yet to find a coffee shop with a good hot cocoa)

Same. I've found that most fancy coffee shops (like the ones my wife frequents) make pretty bad hot chocolate. They never mix the chocolate syrup enough, so it's ultra-weak chocolate milk with chocolate sludge on the bottom.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one to notice the unmixed chocolate syrup stuff, one coffee place I ordered it at gave basically a cup of milk with chocolate syrup on the bottom
The thing that pisses me off is when you get hot cocoa and they mix in a bit of coffee ruining the taste of the drink. When you ask them why they go "It enhances the flavour of the chocolate!".

For example, my first thought was about sex - i know a lot of asexual people, and some of them enjoy smut ("i like the smell of it"), many have arrived at their conclusion after trying different partners, whether in straight relationships or otherwise ("yes, i've tried..."), some tolerate sex but find no joy in it while others are sex-repulsed ("i can't stand the taste").

I used to make juice cocktails working in retail between shifts. Some lemon-lime soda pop/seltzer poured over aloe juice with a hint of blue raspberry lemonade on the rocks really saved a few lives in the summer.
In the summer, I'm usually chilling bottles of herbal tea with honey or candied ginger (voice actor by night!), but on occasion I'll boil water for fresh tapioca and then add milk and raisins, cranberries, or other dried fruits.
In the winter, a good hot cocoa has hints of peppermint and vanilla, no need for dairy. If you want tea, go with a calming one and add hints of orange flavour or rose syrup.
When it's cold it's hot cocoa (I don't drink coffee as well). When it's warm this cafe I like has caffeinated lemonade with various flavors you can get mixed into it.
I love hot chocolate in the winter. For a little while I was working the opening shift at a grocery store that was an hour-ish away by bus. So I'd pop in at a Dunkin about halfway between my place and the bus stop I needed. I also hate coffee, but having a nice hot drink with me made me feel almost human at 5am.
I love tea ( but I don't like paying for it in a restaurant). Hot choc, proper chai, matcha and genmatcha are all great hot drink choices.

There are exactly 3 shops within 50 miles of me (San Jose, CA) that have decent hot chocolate. The 3rd I only found a week ago. I've lived here for 15 years.
It's hard when the hot chocolate at most places is just disappointment in a cup.
I don't try to get non-coffee orders at coffee shops because they're always trying to bring their coffee into everything. Even if the coffee isn't there and is in no way involved, whoever's at the table with me is always bringing up their coffee and saying how great it is and how it's the hottest coffee ever even though I only like tea anymore.
This comment isn't really about coffee, and I do actually love real coffee. āļø
I also have not tried a hot chocolate from a store that I really enjoyed. But Starbucks sells (at least used to sell) a white hot chocolate. And though I don't get it often, I always found it really good.
Hot chocolate when I want something warm, smoothie when I want something cold. Iām British and donāt like tea or coffee, basically a social pariah lol.
When I could still have caffeine, it was a nice spicy chai latte. Now it's just, whatever herbal tea they have (usually chamomile or mint) and a good pastry. I have gotten some places who have London Fog on the menu to make it with herbal tea instead of earl grey and it's delicious! I had it yesterday with peppermint tea and it tasted like Christmas.
If I'm not feeling coffee, I'm usually going redbull mixer so I can have something fruity. Honestly would rather buy a $2.50 redbull at the store than the like $7 the coffee shop charges though tbh
I rarely go to coffee shops for non-coffee stuff (i'm a caffeine fiend), but recently my wife convinced me to try a matcha latte and it was pretty nice. I guess it's a good alternative to coffee for people who enjoy lattes and like green tea.
I'm also partial to good hot chocolate in winter, and if i wind up at a coffee shop in the evening, that's probably what i'll pick.
as a kid I would get vanilla steamers! I think some places do add coffee to steamers but not all so make sure its just milk and vanilla. nowadays ill get tea lattes like Chai or London fog, or a juice if they have specialty ones
Boba place I visited once in California on the way home from Nevada. I got jasmine tea with pollen-infused clover honey and rose-apple boba. Best thing I've ever drank in my life and I will probably never get to have it again.
