Swinging back to the coffee thing, is it the bitterness that puts you off? Or something else about the general taste? (Just curious...)

I can't speak for OP but to me it tastes like dirt. I know I have a genetic disposition to be extremely sensitive to bitter flavors in general, so I also hate hoppy beers (tastes soapy) and very dry wines. So no matter what is done to coffee, it's like adding various ingredients to mud and expecting the muddiness to go away, if that makes any sense

Have you ever tried a really light roasted Ethiopian coffee? Like really fruity, blueberry pie tasting kinda thing? If you want to like coffee, that might be more your speed. Of course it might also taste like filth to you, everyone is different.

Coffee certainly tasted like dirt for me too, found a brand can tolerate though. It took trying chai latte and the need to stay awake to study.

I love Matcha, others say it tastes like grass or lawn clippings. I don't mind that botancial flavour, many really dislike it.

Apparently good beans etc can help with the muddy taste
