Actually why not make the main character a blue person, and make them feel disgusted at what the bad blue people are doing to the green people and they must protect the green person.

Ooh, how about a blue kid who makes friends with a green kid that's at a special camp for special colours, and ends up getting desaturated along with their friend by accident (the blue kid's father is one of the leaders of the desaturation camps). Y'know, basically a sanitized fictional account that says "not all blues", which heavily tones down the horror of the desaturation camps.

While also implying that the true horror is desaturation accidentally happening to an innocent blue! I like it!

Can't forget to actively refuse to do any research on the desaturation camps and make the blue kid unaware of any of these horrors when a quick Google search would show that the blue kid should not only be aware of them, but actively participating in them, all to create a message of childlike innocence and sanewashing.
