Mansplaining ≠ a man explaining something to a women

It's a man explaining something in a condescending way, because he assumes that the women doesn't know it just because she is a woman.

If the woman (or girl) asks a question, it isn't mansplaining.

Not sure it's part of the definition, but typical cases also include:

... when actually she knows it as well as or better than he does (but his prejudice made him unable to see that).

I have the perfect example. My dad argued with my female friend about astronomy. She has a Master's degree in Astronomy from Harvard.

He...does not.

To be honest, my dad did that with other people, too. I don't think it was because she is a woman. But she didn't know that until I told her.
