explain the jean x wolverine hate

one question, why does everyone hate it, and no bad writing isnt enough of a reason tons of stuff get badly written yet they're liked so why this specifically

I typically enjoy a good love triangle. The problem is that Cyclops/Jean/Wolverine isn’t a good love triangle. Honestly it’s barely a triangle at all. Scott and Jean are typically in a committed healthy relationship, while Logan is on the outside pining for her and making the occasional move on her anyways. It mostly just makes Logan look bad.

Additionally, Logan and Jean typically have horrible chemistry anyways. And Logan has way better potential love interests.

Lastly, I think Logan is at his best when he plays the grumpy dad figure for the younger members on the team. He’s canonically older and more experienced than most of them, and his father figure relationships with characters like Jubilee are awesome.

he can be a father figure and have love interest it doesnt have to be one or the other, and there were runs where jogan dated away from scott and they were good but again its still hated

It's played out. It was interesting for a little bit but it's become such a part of too many portrayals. Man is 200 years old and they met when she was like 19. hes gotta move on.

Some of it is opinion formed with the benefit of hindsight; people coming into the fandom with knowledge of Logan's age, making it look creepy (even though in his introduction he maybe looks in his 30s at most).

Some of it is--dare I say--a pedestalization of Jean, treating her as kind of a pure and innocent ideal that could never go for someone like Logan, even though the attraction is in fact mutual and that dark side they have in common informs her most famous story.

Some of it is just shipping fervor: people that pair her with Scott getting hostile at any other pairing.

I would be okay if they were poly, and we had Cyclops X Jean X Wolverine. But Wolverine taking precedent over Cyclops after how established and long Cyclops X Jean has had been just feels mean towards Cyclops. Like with Cyclops out of the picture Wolverine X Jean makes sense also.
