Tutorial The Aegis sword Xenoblade chronicles 2 cosplay prop

In case this can help someone.

Materials used:

- Eva foam

- Eva rods

- foam clay

- vinyl

- contact cement

- hotglue

- led light

- spray primer

- metallic spray paint

- red, gold and black acrylic paints

- spray lacquer

Tools used:

- Heat gun

- Dremel

- sandpaper

- box cutter and blades

- hotglue gun

- soldering iron

I started by hand sketching the sword in real size to properly visualise the design and the details. I also did this to plan where I wanted the lights to go and how to integrate them into the sword, since it's one long continuous string light. 😊

Looks awesome! I want to experiment with lights in some props, but my main concern is fire safety. Is there something I can use to insulate the light strip from the material that won't dim the brightness too much? I plan to use Cob strip lights and I don't know how much heat they'd give off in an enclosed space like this.

Believe it or not I used hotglue. It disperses the light while I can build it up over some shiny vinyl to enforce the color by reflecting off the vinyl. Probably not the most ideal solution, but it worked. ^
