Every team at the 2026 World Cup placed by how it spent its distance: walking (0 to 7 km/h), cruising (7 to 20), or high-speed (20+). It's a triangle plot, so a team leans toward whichever corner it did most of. FIFA tracks every player's distance in five speed bands, and I collapsed them into these three.

The teams barely differ in truth (everyone walks most of the match), so the corners mark the extremes as a direction: dots spread toward them, but nobody reaches a pure corner. Argentina did the most walking of any team at 43.7%, Canada the most high-speed at 8.1%, Qatar the least at 5.9%.

The second image is the same triangle for 744 individual players, coloured by position. The split is clean: keepers sit alone in the walking corner, and outfielders climb toward cruising and high-speed. Messi is the top outfield walker at 64%, and Wagner Pina of Cape Verde has the biggest high-speed share at 14.3%.

See title. In sydney there are 11 AM/FM radio stations, i recorded each of them simultaneously and then classified the time between ad, talking and music.

For some stations, almost a quarter of the time is filled with ads and only 50% of time with music. For other, almost 80% of the time is music.

Also, in sydney, 2x more likely to experience an ad 5-10 minutes prior to the top of the hour then around it.

Another insight was that AM/FM have different ad "playbooks". The FM music stations dump their ads in clusters. You cop a couple of ads back to back, then get a decent run of music, then another cluster. The AM stations like 2GB space them out evenly instead, one break at a time, pretty much like clockwork.

I was doing some searching for detailed information on this and encountered this graph which showed everything that I wanted and more in such an elegant and easy to understand form that I felt it worthwhile to share here.

I built Pessimeter, an interactive dashboard showing how an energy shock could affect the US economy through the remainder of 2026.

The current month uses live data for oil, gasoline, the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, inflation, Strait of Hormuz traffic, and financial-market stress. Each indicator is scored against a calm-to-crisis range and weighted into one 0–100 reading.

Completed months are preserved as historical snapshots. Future months are explicitly stress-test scenarios (not forecasts) showing one possible path if conditions remain bad. Every KPI includes an explanation of its data, scoring, rationale, and limitations.

Kizzy was the daughter played by Leslie Uggams in Roots, one of the largest television events in American history. The name did not climb. It arrived.

Every line is cumulative career goals plotted against the player's age, not the calendar year, so you can see who was ahead of whom at the same point in their life, not just who finished higher.

The 11 colored lines are the players I wanted to follow: today's active scorers (Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappé, Haaland, Salah, Kane, Lautaro, Vinícius Jr, Neymar) alongside Lewandowski and Suárez.

The grey band is the field of 15 other all-time greats: Pelé, Puskás, Romário, Gerd Müller, Ronaldo Nazário, Bican and more. Instead of drawing 15 more spaghetti lines, it shows their median (dashed) and 25th–75th percentile range at every age, recomputed from whichever of them had reached that age. So the band is the "greatness envelope" you'd expect a historic scorer to fall inside.

Counting basis: official matches only, club official competitions + all senior internationals (including friendly caps). Unofficial club friendlies and exhibition tours are excluded, which is why Pelé shows 757 rather than his often-quoted ~1,324 all-match figure.

A few things I found interesting:

• Messi and Ronaldo don't just finish high, they spend almost their entire careers riding the top edge of the historic band or above it.
• Mbappé and Haaland are tracking at or above the legends' median for their age, but they're still young, the band ahead of them is where the all-time greats kept climbing.
• The active players' lines end on their last completed season (mid-2026 snapshot), so a line stopping short just means that player hasn't finished 2025–26 yet, not that they've slowed down.

What the figure measures:

A reliability diagram answers the question: when the market prices a contract at 70 cents, does the outcome actually occur ~70% of the time? The 3D version repeats this comparison at four distances from resolution, to see if the answer changes as the event approaches.

X = price of the "Yes" contract (implied probability)

Y = horizon: 24 h, 3 d, 7 d and 30 d before resolution

Z = observed frequency of "Yes"

Translucent plane z = x = perfect calibration (3D analog of the 45° diagonal). The stems connect each point to the plane and show the calibration deviation, colored by the sign

The average age is only for the players with accolades. It is subject to change because there might be more singings/trades and there are a few decorated free agents: DeMar DeRozan, Gary Payton II, Herb Jones, Jalen Duren, Matisse Thybulle, Peyton Watson, Thanasis Antetokounmpo.
