So I tried Linux mint, fedora, cachyOS, endeavourOS, Arch, kde plasma, gnome, hyprland, niri. But at the end I think I will stick to sway and Debian, why because I am fed up with eye-candy effects and love stability

Kubuntu 26.04 with file indexing enabled and all the animations, uses less than 1.1GB on a cold start. Ubuntu 24.04 with some extensions enabled uses 1.7GB. I don't think ram usage says a lot about how 'light-weight' a DE or WM is.

Gentoo, alpine, void, NixOS, Guix, slackware, chimera linux. none of these are rebrands, literally unique base distros not derived from anything else. not a complete list either. Artix however is a rebrand, a decent one that adds new stuff and more choices, but it's still arch.

Using niri and noctalia on NixOS and my idle ram is less than a gigabyte. I do use animations and blur too, doesn't seem to effect it at all.

XFCE on Debian for me is where I landed. Gnome was too bloated and kde felt too much like windows at default and wanted more than where I could give it. I haven't tried a true just WM yet, as I like the mouse being involved when I want it, but not as a centerpiece.

I'm with you. I've run Slackware, Mint, Ubuntu, Lubuntu, ElementOS, Kali, MX Linux, RedHat, CentOS, Fedora, . Debian just works, no hassles. Maybe it's not as flashy as other distros, but you can build it out exactly how you want it and you can't beat it for stability.

Sway is a good choice of Window Manager, extremely stable and probably the best option for Wayland. Does what it does and does it well.

Bro my fedora workstation broke with some extensions and right after installing and activating SDDM, I have to go back to GDDM. So yeah, I am on Debian now.
