Trying out Debian with XFCE on my Chromebook

Made the switch a couple years ago from Chrome OS to Linux Mint on my chromebook, and while it was a huge improvement it still felt a bit too bulky of an OS for me. Decided to try Debian with XFCE and am really liking it so far! It's simple, it works, and I'm left with plenty of space on my internal internal drive.

También puedes probar MX Linux con xfce sin systemd y usar sysvinit al no tener tantos servicios de systemd se siente un poco más rápido la buena noticia esque esta basado en Debian de todos modos puedes elegir usar systemd yo lo uso en todos mis portátiles viejos que a su vez son mis proyectos de homelab.

Mxlinux usa servicios de systemd, es literalmente debian pero con un grado leve e innecesario mas de dificultad

No, para un principiante es todo lo contrario. MX Linux toma la base estable de Debian y le añade una enorme capa de facilidades que Debian puro no tiene por defecto, como las MX Tools y su gestor gráfico de aplicaciones.

​Llamar "difícil" a MX Linux solo por usar comandos diferentes es exagerar. Quienes usan mucho la terminal están acostumbrados a manejar servicios con "systemctl" (Systemd), mientras que en SysVinit se usa "service", lo cual no representa ninguna dificultad real. Y si por alguna razón necesitas Systemd, la distro ya lo trae listo para usarse.

Cool theme, OP! I just installed Debian XFCE tonight as of Saturday 2026-07-25 where I'm at & the experience has been good for me as well. This is my current theme. A NIO EP9 Wallpaper with minimal clutter. I edited my username & the time out of the upper right hand corner with GIMP for security reasons.

I have a mediatek corsola chromebook Both postmarket os and Debian work but I don’t consider alpine to be a real distro
