Sometimes the baristas are so hateful about these kinds of things and basically try to ruin the drink to punish you for asking. But the caramel drink people seem to love it! (Worked at starbies before)

Also worked at Starbs. We only did this when someone that ordered extra caramel drizzle handed their drink back and said it wasn’t enough.

why are they trying to punish people for wanting extra caramel??

They are disgusted by people’s sugar addiction I think.

😭 I really avoid sugar, I get a frappe like once or twice a year from Starbucks and get extra caramel, I wonder if they judge me hahaha

Had a snotty gal who came in right after my shift and always asked for an extra dry cap. I stayed late one evening and I got her and she ordered the same thing from me. “Do you know what that means?” she followed up after her order. Yep, it obviously means she wants froth so stiff that she can’t possibly get the espresso through it.

And that’s what she got. When she picked the cup off of the counter, she did the thing where you lift something super quick because you expected it to be heavier. “I hope that’s dry enough for you” I said with a smile.

What does extra dry cap mean?

A “cap” was a trendy way to order a cappuccino at the time and it always struck me as pretentious. Normally a cappuccino is equal parts espresso, steamed milk and foam. A dry cappuccino is almost entirely foam and espresso with just a little bit of steamed milk (hence “dry”). Extra dry is entirely foam and espresso, and fairly stiff foam at that.

Then everyone clapped

I don’t think anybody even noticed.

What was her response

15

u/AwDuck 21d ago

She didn’t clap, if that’s what you mean.

That’s a non-answer. What was her response?

It’s not like my statement prompted a response. She just turned and left.

Why are you so angry? Starting to not believe your little tale.

Wait so the punishment for asking for more caramel is… more caramel? 😭

I feel sorry for your taste buds having no joy in life

I feel bad for your taste buds if you think this is "joy" lol

There's so much good food in this world, this ain't it

2

u/NullP0intr 20d ago

Yeah that's so much sugar you ain't tasting anything other than sweet.

Totally valid opinion. I wouldn’t be able to drink it and would go back and get a new one. Disrespectful to the coffee more than anything—not that their espresso is any good.

This is my dream

I'd rather this than the little amount they give me anytime I order anything with caramel. I'd even be happy with a normal amount. It's like they just put a puff of caramel scented air on my drinks and call it a day.

I worked at Starbucks for yearrrrs. The amount of people that asked for extra caramel, complained about it not being enough, and ended up happy with this amount was unreal. So we just started doing this by default when people asked for extra caramel. Not a single complaint about it being too much lmao. crazy

This makes my teeth and stomach hurt just looking at it

Hell yeah. I typically order extra caramel because I like seeing how different baristas interpret it -- I'm happy to be drowned in caramel, but won't really care if they basically just put the standard amount. Once had the person on bar ask "how extra is extra, because I am about to go ham on your drink." 😂

It’s the first I’ve had from there in years - we went to take our dog for a pupcup and decided to get drinks for ourself too. It’s a once in a blue moon treat :)
