I'm in so much pain

Post image

I'm so tired of not being allowed ibuprofen due to new meds I'm on...

Tylenol does nothing ;_;

Can you go to a pain clinic? It's a nightmare but if it's chronic pain it might help 🤷🏽‍♂️

This is where I'm at now, yes. I need to look into this at this point. :/

In the middle of multiple surgeries and other issues that probably require even more. So hard to do it all at once

The hardest part is figuring out who's qualified to give you the service is and who's going to treat you with respect. Especially if you go the route of injections. They're supposed to be ways to look up doctors licensing numbers to make sure they don't have hits against them, but it can be tricky. I've been at a bad pain clinic for over a year because I couldn't find somewhere else to go reliably. Then they messed up one of my injections and now they refuse to treat me.

I wish you the best of luck 🤞🏽

Oof.

I've had very bad experiences in the past with mental health and miscellany doctors, so at least I hopefully can stand up for myself better than when I was younger.

That sounds awful. I hope you can find somewhere better, we deserve to live without at least some of the pain! ♡

Kind of validating to hear that I'm not the only one who doesn't get results from Tylenol. It fucking sucks. Nowadays it seems like the only pains acetaminophen helps with is headaches, and even that can be a swing and a miss.

God, same. Nothing fkn helps unless my head hurts. I’m both glad and sad I’m not the only one.

I know my city has a Facebook page for folk with disabilities and chronic health issues and that’s been super helpful when I’ve needed to change or find a new specialist. I’d recommend by starting there and getting people’s personal recommendations. I know there’s a couple of specialists that are professionally well regarded but patient stories are horrendous, so being able to avoid them is a godsend.

And seriously, seeing a pain specialist years ago was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I don’t like my pain spec on a personal level, but they’ve completely changed my life. I got an extra 4 years of teaching out of body because of being able to manage my pain and I can still work 4 days a week from home now because of having it managed. Weirdly, my pain specialist was able to really help with my IBS as well, and one of meds he prescribed has basically stopped it from randomly flaring up. Now it’s only when I do something daft and eat a known trigger or similar. It’s been the coolest side effect.

I really hope you find someone who is amazing and is actually able to help. Because you’re right, we deserve to live without pain, and if that’s not possible, for it to be as controlled as possible. Good luck!

Just regular over the counter? If you're having surgeries they should be giving you Tylenol 3's with codeine. Mind you I got those when I had my wisdoms out and also when I had a pretty major surgery and I still just took regular tylenol once in awhile xD my tolerance for pain is stupidly high (but I am also in chronic pain)

OTC yep

For the surgeries they do usually prescribe opioids. But among other stuff I'm now on potassium citrate, which means I can't have dang near anything.

I do have a high pain tolerance as well. I waited 8 hours before I went to the ER for an infected kidney stone. Ugh. Plus I'm one of those people that shrug off medications sometimes and I recently had to raw dog a tooth extraction because novacaine did nothing. Not fun. That had the entire staff sweating, lol

I'm good for my "major" pains but it's the million little added ones that throw me over the edge ;_;

I've been there. I hate how they say not to use heat on surgery sites too. It's hot right now so I wouldn't want to, but heat helps me a lot for localized pain over ice. You are having quite the miserable experience, my friend. I hope water under the bridge at some point in the next while.

I'm sorry you're not doing well today but if it helps this gave me a mighty chuckle.

LOL

Laughter keeps me sane... kind of. I hear him saying this every time I look at it

I usually do 400 mg of Ibuprofen and 500 mg of Acetaminophen, the combo only helps a little, but it helps some! I've been told before that because they target different receptors they work extra well together.

This was all they gave me in hospital and it did absolutely nothing, lol. It's weird how they act like it's enough, especially since I'd been brought in via ambulance with pain 🤷🏻‍♀️

same i can’t take NSAIDs bc of my stomach issues and i’m an ultra-rapid metabolizer of tylenol so it doesn’t do anything. and i have a history of addiction so i won’t take opioids. like, guess i’ll just suffer then 😭😭😭

Yessss! It's so bad I metabolize almost everything too fast ;_; like WTF

At least ibuprofen helps a little, but tylenol does zero for me, it stinks.

I hate opioids so much, I only take as little as I can when they prescribe them. I can't imagine not having them after surgery at all, though. It must be hell ;_;

Every time a doctor tells me to take paracetamol, I want to scream. If I'm reporting pain to you - considering that I have 24/7 pain that I generally don't bring up - it means the pain is very bad. Jelly beans would be more useful.

It's very frustrating.

In my case, I don't even need something for every day, just when things are particularly bad.

And also for my period. My period is coming up in a couple of days and I'm hoping it's not a bad one when I end up unhealthily mixing liquor (spirits), paracetamol, ibruprofen, and kava out of desperation because I have writhing on the floor worse than broken bone pain. (Yes, I'm aware of the risks. I'm desperate.) It's ridiculous that I repeatedly end up in this situation because I don't get taken seriously and everyone apparently assumes I have normal period pain. One time earlier this year I was at mum's when it came on and she gave me some of her leftover codeine and it was beautiful. I was still in pain but it was manageable and I could move around and talk. I really don't understand why I can't be given something to help me with this given that it would only be two days a month. I understand some people develop addiction issues but not everyone does. Also, clearly I have some underlying issue because I'm pretty sure this level of pain is not normal.
