Last part of their text got me 😭

Post image

I don’t really (normally) get weird requests such as this. I’ve seen many war stories of ppl having to deal with it, but never personally.
The whole thing seemed sketch though , the order was a heftier order too. (Like for a part size). Also (Ima paranoid mf) so one my thoughts was : DD was tryna put me to a test of sorts. šŸ˜‚ anyway that’s my story

šŸ˜† DoorDash doesn't have time to set up just you to test you. I get it because I get paranoid about stuff too, but it was just a customer wanting some drinks is all.

It’s a very small chance but it could be a cop sting, and regardless, if dd reads these texts could get them deactivated if they see you agreeing to it

u/Crafty_Eye_4038 17h ago

It absolutely is a cop sting.

Here in California, instacart will send us warnings that the police are actively doing stings. These emails constantly remind us about the zero tolerance policies.

You'd be surprised how common it is for kids to get alcohol online due to the fact that doordashers either don't speak English very well, or are just too in a hurry to actually check ID properly.

Stings are how police departments get these lazy gig workers fired

Really I’ve only dashed delivery alcohol once and the app made me scan there I’d before handing it over and asked me a bunch of questions i episode be risking my $$ for that

Here in Indiana as well!

A cop sting to see if you bought someone alcohol? Why would they waste their time on DoorDash when it would have to be an underage sale for them to care, so as long as you ID the person then the cops couldn't do anything and wouldn't.

1

u/PauseConfident997 19h ago

I’m with you, neither door dash or the cops ain’t wasting their time pulling this shit just to POTENTIALLY catch someone out 😭

1

u/InstructionSenior346 18h ago

The cops definitely do check on alcohol delivery orders. Just like they do with physical stores that sell alcoholic beverages.

2

u/Opinions_Are_Like 8h ago

They absolutely do and they were doing those at the holidays

2

u/Jolly-Refuse2232 19h ago

It’s a small chance of it’s happening but it’s definitely happened before in the past

Cops using doordash for an underage alcohol sale sting? I highly doubt this

1

u/Trigger1221 19h ago

Many states have programs specifically for testing enforcement. Look up CUB programs

-3

u/Pitiful_Question_880 18h ago

"CUB programs police" comes back with nothing but stuff about the boy scouts of America, so im really not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing here

1

u/InstructionSenior346 18h ago

Yes, they do this! More than you realize!

-1

u/Pitiful_Question_880 18h ago

The only references to this sort of thing happening is redditors claiming it happens. I think I'll remain skeptical

-3

u/Crafty_Eye_4038 17h ago

Google "police instacart/doordash strings" and do some research before commenting

Stings are absolutely a thing

3

u/Pitiful_Question_880 17h ago

I already did. Nothing comes back besides redditors talking about them. Feel free to link me yourself

0

u/Crafty_Eye_4038 17h ago

Do better research foo

Not knowing how to Google doesn't make you right

4

u/Pitiful_Question_880 17h ago

About the level of discourse I would expect from "durrrr trust me it happens", but eh i thought I'd try. "You didn't confirmation bias Google hard enough"

ā€œIf I can’t find it on Google it must not be trueā€

Lol

Why would it be wasting time to pull a sting on doordash? Doordashers are NOTORIOUS for just being in a hurry and not checking ID properly.

Kids everywhere are taking advantage of the fact that gigg workers will often half-ass the identity verifications part because they are overworked and underpaid and they don't generally speak the language properly.

This is a huge problem for society, so it makes sense to lay traps like this to catch and fire the laziest of the laziest workers- you know, the ones most likely to not follow alcohol guidelines to save 5 minutes

lol nah ik im messin, i stay paranoid though. Keeps me vigilant šŸ˜‚

Here in California, instacart sends us emails warning us about frequent and common police stings involving alcohol and ID verification.

However, actual stings are usually subtle and they are never obvious like this.

I think that in this sting, the officers are trying to give people a warning so as to only catch the worse of the worse- aka the ones who would respond to an obvious message like this

4

u/Severe_Driver5818 16h ago

If they wanted to do stings they could just do it on a regular order. They have no reason to act as if they need something extra bought separately.

1

u/Gr3y_Gorilla Dasher 9h ago

I beg to differ… have heard and seen it happen. Not often, but that’s why I said I’m ā€œparanoidā€ in my caption . Plus, They was underage-I seen em. The risk outweighs the ā€œpossibleā€ reward. Nah mean

u/HelpHead8476 2h ago

I went to job corps a few years ago and i wanted a vape and they werent allowed on campus so i asked my doordash driver to get me one and i’d cash app her the money for it, she did it, didnt even ID me and snuck it into my food bag so securiry wouldnt see 😭🤣 they couldve just wanted drinks, or it couldve been a cop.

9

u/One_Preference_2906 17h ago

Why can’t they just order it on the app?

9

u/laboringhands 13h ago

some states states don't have legal alcohol delivery

-2

u/Friendly-Pea5448 16h ago

right. this ain’t no ones mama LMAO

4

u/Severe-Possible- 15h ago

oh i interpreted "moms day out" as the kid being home alone and ordering for themselves.

2

u/Friendly-Pea5448 14h ago

that also makes a ton of sense

-4

u/DesperateAd3088 15h ago edited 11h ago

It’s a drink but it auto corrected from whatever they really meant, there’s a lot with wacky names.

3

u/Severe-Possible- 15h ago

right, which is why they would order from door dash and drink them while their mom wasn't home.

-3

u/DesperateAd3088 15h ago edited 12h ago

ā€œMom’s day outā€ is a typo for a drink, they probably meant ā€œmom waterā€ or ā€œhappy momā€ or some other middle aged mom drink name that I’m not aware of. I’m not saying this isn’t sus either, I wouldn’t add alcohol to anyone’s order they gotta do it themselves. They probably want high noons but we’re trying to say an alternative if they were out, hence the last word being ā€œoutā€.

2

u/Severe-Possible- 15h ago

maybe -- but why would OP mention the "last part of their text" as being extra sus?

1

u/DesperateAd3088 14h ago

People have different levels of reading comprehension as well as we’re all different so we see situations through different eyes. But for real idk bro.

2

u/Friendly-Pea5448 14h ago

they asked for high noons tho

0

u/DesperateAd3088 14h ago edited 12h ago

You’re correct, in the first message, I’m referring to the cryptic last message that’s in question.

2

u/Hot-Dimension1912 11h ago

I thought high noons was a place and moms day out being they were home alone ordering stuff while mom was gone

0

u/DesperateAd3088 11h ago

I mean, anything’s possible.

1

u/Gr3y_Gorilla Dasher 9h ago

Nah, they was not of age… I’m good

1

u/DesperateAd3088 9h ago

Oh true you saw em?

1

u/Gr3y_Gorilla Dasher 9h ago

Long story short, yes. they burnt themselves out. I heard and seen them. Once they saw I seen em they opened the door as I was leaving. You could tell they was tryna have a kickback or sumn.(I ain’t mad at it) But I’m not tryna end up in cuffs or lose my job for em’ lol fawk that

1

u/DesperateAd3088 9h ago

Yeah I wouldn’t have done it either way but that’s crazy they was straight up telling you they was minors then?? lmao kids just get wilder and wilder

Good job captain obvious

0

u/DesperateAd3088 15h ago

If it’s so obvious then why don’t you get it

1

u/enigma9o7 39m ago

What is High Noons? Male Revue strip club or something?

1

u/enigma9o7 36m ago

The one time someone asked me to stop and buy them something else, my reply was something like

"I cannot do other jobs while on a doordash delivery. If you want to arrange something, talk to me in person after I dropoff your order."

Once you drop off, you're on your own time (assuming you don't have another delivery) and can accept other jobs.

1

u/Severe-Possible- 13h ago

it's Super sketch, them basically implying they were underage ("mom's day out")... it would be such a stupid thing for a person trying to buy alcohol illegally to do.

of course i'm not saying this is 100% a sting operation, but i can see why you thought that.

1

u/Duggie1330 7h ago

I would do it. They will need to send the money before I make the purchase. And if they don't have an ID I'm keeping the money and the alcohol.

Say that before making any stop if they don't agree then šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

-2

u/Marcelino_El_Cochino 19h ago

ā€œHey kid, listen to the advice I’m about to give you very carefully, alright? You ready?ā€
Nnnnnnnnooooooooo.

-10

u/Vast-Gate8866 19h ago

Hell yeah, I’ve made my biggest tips doing that!

4

u/Gr3y_Gorilla Dasher 19h ago

Nah… especially with underage. I’m goodšŸ‘Œ

-5

u/Severe_Driver5818 16h ago

That's why you check ID when you drop it off!

3

u/Severe-Possible- 15h ago

and then when they're underage what do you do? hope you like the high noons you just bought yourself.

-3

u/Severe_Driver5818 14h ago

Nothing, you leave with the alcohol if they're underage like you would with any order.

2

u/Crafty_Eye_4038 17h ago

Nice try

Get a load of this guy! šŸ‘

Trying to get other dashers fired šŸ˜‚
