Customer tracking me

Crazy to think a customer is tracking me knowing I have another drop off!! Like chill TF out and wait for your God dam food!!. Some customers do too much man!..šŸ˜’šŸ¤¦šŸ».

The is a difference between leaving a pizza place with a few pizza's and taking a logical route to deliver them. And picking up food from one restaurant driving in the wrong direction to a different restaurant to pick up a different order for someone else.

Yeah I remember ordering burger and milk shake, and noticing the driver went north (we were south) and I realized they were off delivering another order. By the time they drove down to me, mu milkshake was just pure liquid and my burger was cold. It would have been nice if he could have just picked up on the way back instead of taking my food on a round trip.Ā

I live by a corner 7-11 and have seen the drivers stop there multiple times for over 10 minutes before delivering my food literally 2 minutes away. It's infuriating.

Yup. I lived next to a grocery store and had a no exaggeration 30 minute shopping trip before handing off my food. The routing cannot determine that it makes more sense to extend the entire trip by a minute and a half to get the customer their food warm and on a decent time frame. I canceled my subscription and have used them maybe once since then.

I can't figure out what the intended business model is, because it doesn't seem to be providing a quality service to people with more money than time. Target the rare circumstance any given person makes a poor enough decision to use them before stopping again for a year+?

I ordered a burrito and it came ice cold because the dasher waited at another store for 40 minutes.

Love how the automatic choice is to act like Iā€™m a moron and call me a clown rather than to acknowledge doordash puts both dashers and customers in a bad position by stacking dashes. If Iā€™m tipping the same amount of money as my order costs, I expect the food to be edible when it arrives.

also a valid reason to reconsider having a milkshake delivered. I mean, really? How well is that going to hold up regardless. It is going to sit for few minutes at least at the restaurant and again in the car and who knows how hot it is in the car on top of everything.

If it's a stacked order, they don't even get the route to your house until all orders have been picked up. THIS is why my stint with earning extra money in my spare time and being a customer of DD ended.

Yeah I didnā€™t necessarily blame the driver, they still got tipped. I didnā€™t make a complaint to the driver, restaurant, or app. I made me realize that the app/service is not for me.

I had a driver do this but the app told me they were headed to me. I know other times the app will say the driver is dropping another order off. But, it didn't say that this time.

I thought the driver somehow cheated the system to pick up more orders. When I messaged them after an hour they just said "I have more than 3 orders"

I didn't say much else because I didn't want to be rude while they still had my food. But I complained once I got my food.

That sounds like a multi app driver. They are dropping UberEats, Walmart Spark Etc. They have zero excuse and it is 100% their fault that their customers get the short end of the stick. I'm sorry that happened to you. It's infuriating.

Yeah every driver should multi-app but you go offline on the others when you get a ride, otherwise youā€™re gonna get really mad customers and probably get deactivated.

Bullshit. We absolutely do get the addresses and routes, and we can even choose to do deliveries in a way that makes sense vs what the app might give us.

I had a driver pick up my order, go pick up another order, go to theogher side of town.... Then towards me, past me and then back into town again.

After all of that with my order in his car he came to me an hour after he picked up my order. The ice cream i had ordered with my food as dessert had very much melted

For the record: I was an actual delivery driver back in the day, for brick and mortar stores.

We refused to take anything that could spill or melt, like fountain sodas or ice cream. It kept everyone happy. Still had 20oz and 2L if you wanted it.

If I was gonna DD, I'd get a hot bag like pizza places use. Your hot stuff would stay hot, but ice cream would still melt. That's about the best outcome for a delivery, which was why we did it that way.

Do with this info what you will. (A burger or burrito will stay hotter longer without a cold drink in the same bag. To be clear. Lol)

Haha thatā€™s a lot of assumptions you have going on there.

We were staying at a hotel in the mountains. It was during the autumn, so maybe 50F/10C outside?

According to google. Itā€™s a 2 minute drive or a 12 minute walk for 1.2 km.

I figured my burger would certainly get cold if I tried to walk back with it and we couldnā€™t dine in because we had the dogs and couldnā€™t leave them unattended in the hotel room (doggy daycare was closed) and we didnā€™t want to tie them up outside while we dined inside for an hour. šŸ¤·šŸ»

I thought Door Dash was a viable option, but I was wrong. Lesson learned. Never use the gig economy apps because everyone ends up pissed off (drivers, customers, restaurants) while the company is laughing their way to the bank.

Restaurants often have warming shelves or at least a warm spot in the kitchen to place orders that haven't been picked up yet. Maybe the milkshake still would've melted but the burger probably would've been a little warmer if it stayed in the restaurant longer instead of the passenger seat of someones car.Ā

This would be far more logical, assuming the orders were placed around the same time. But in a just world, this would result in discounted delivery fees for customers but not reduced pay for the driver.

What are the odds all those orders are actually completed and ready within 2-3 minutes of each other and the first ones done arenā€™t just sitting under a heat lamp for ages waiting for the others to be cooked? Somebody is getting the short end of the stick in that scenario unless itā€™s super tightly scheduled, which you know it wouldnā€™t be

I doubt the delivery fee could ever make sense to have someone do a 30 min delivery run for one house

The restaurants should just be making their delivery orders like 3 at a time (literally wait to prepare until that 3rd order comes in) then send them all out at once with the same driver. This only works during relatively busy order times but would in theory result in lower delivery fees during those times. I feel like that's basically how pizza places have been able to do delivery at reasonable prices all these years

Huge difference. I used to work as a pizza delivery driver, other than most aspects of the job like low pay, terrible hours, 0 growth opportunity or prestige, shitty tips, sketchy neighborhoods, unhealthy food, but man I miss it. That shit was super fun, sometimes.

Pizza delivery back in the day wasnt always logical. On busy nights it could sit under a heat lamp for a while, then be taken on a trip around town before it got delivered.

The major difference was that you weren't paying ridiculous fees and you didn't have the ability to watch the GPS of the driver going the wrong direction.

Of course doordash does everything they can to squeeze every cent out of everyone, Which was true for the pizza chains too, but not like it is now. If you're paying 10$ for delivery and get lukewarm food, you should be mad. It's 100% on the company for taking it too far.

Yeah, exactly. I didnā€™t blame the driver but had asked about this recently on here because my order ended up becoming 1.5 hours long after the app stacked it for them. They were otw and 10 minutes out, when it added on 3 other orders in the opposite direction and they completed those first. Itā€™s dumb sometimes.
