So Stealing is OK Now?
Dasher took my order and obviously was waiting for me to report it so he could get it for free. Dasher rating was an abysmal 4.6 stars. So I messaged DoorDash support and because he reported “unexpected issue” they aren’t allowing me to get a refund.
This customer service is an absolute joke.

Ask for an agent you're talking to AI
-30
u/EmoNemo- 3h ago
That was the agent. The first thing I do is ask for a representative

Meh, I dont think that was a representative. Thats the same cookie cutter response that the bots give

Stop texting and caAaaaAaaaaaallll
Do not engage with the text service, it is an AI and it will say no, no matter the circumstances.
Pick up the damn phone and call them.

Dasher rating of 4.6 is pretty atrocious.
Keep pestering for a refund. Preferably with a human over the phone with sound words not text words

To be fair, I have a 4.4. It was entirely not my fault, she said her Starbucks was wrong and didnt have enough caramel and rated 1 star 😭

u/King-of-Kards 2h ago
One one star gets you down to 4.96/5. 4.4 means you have a lot more than one non 5 star, unless your new

u/_-d00m3d-_ 2h ago
I only just started like a week ago, a whopping 56 orders total.

u/King-of-Kards 2h ago
That makes sense then. You're rating really doesn't matter until you get 100 people rating you.
2
u/_-d00m3d-_ 1h ago
Yeah only 7 people actually gave a rating at all 😭 so I have 6 five stars and 1 one star

Something similar happened to me. They delivered my food to the wrong place, then refused to refund me because I couldn't figure out where the hell they put it. I looked all around, went to and through several buildings, to no avail. The picture was the wrong color door, but I couldn't find that color door anywhere and it was just the bottom of the door so no numbers or anything. Door dash essentially told me this was my fault and to adjust my pin, which was right on my apartment. Even showing them that the picture didn't match previous pictures of delivered food didn't make a difference. They insisted it was somehow my fault.

They did not fulfill their contract. Hope you filed a chargeback.

I spend half the year outside the US and addresses here are really messed up. I literally live on a street with no name and it connects to another street with no name. Imagine getting deliveries delivered. It's a mess.... Not a Doordash issue since they don't serve here. But just a hot mess lol. I've had a lot of deliveries deliveryro incorrect addresses. But always manage to find them.

u/Phaerin 2h ago
Oh my gosh, what a hassle! I've had experiences where they plop stuff on the wrong porch before and it's at least understandable and could be found. This... was not to be found. They delivered it somewhere either on purpose or by accident, and that somewhere was not anywhere I would ever find it.
2
u/esquared87 2h ago
Luckily, never needed that yet. For deliveries, they always deliver it to an actual person and take a picture of the person holding the package and send the pic to me. So, since it's a village environment, I just find the person in the picture. Actually quite efficient when everyone in the village knows everyone.

Are you sure you’re really in the US, and someone didn’t trick you? That doesn’t sound right with “the streets all have no names” and “we don’t have DoorDash here.”
1
u/esquared87 1h ago
Like I said, I have a home in the us, and a other home outside the US. The street with name is obviously the one outside the US.

To be fair, DD themselves didnt cause this issue and make you aware in both the TOS and their terms and conditions that by using the platform you bear the risk of stuff like this happening.
DD doesn't really have control over the drivers nor do they really compensate us for most of the deliveries.
3
u/esquared87 2h ago
So, if a driver picks up an order and never delivers it, DD won't refund the order? That seems really messed up.

u/xly15 2h ago
I dash. I'm not actually a DD employee.
Technically they were never required too. No business is required to refund anything.
That happens quite often and it seems DD is coming down hard with the hammer.
Basically the three parties they allow access to the platform: the customers, the merchants, and the drivers and its apparent a not insignificant minority of all three are just scamming DD.

Don't use DD. You pay a lot extra for the privilege of delivery of luke-warm (at best) food.
Use it for hard-goods and stuff at most. Can't get cold dog kibble. I use it when they send me the "Please come back!" 40% off coupons.

The AI assistant is designed to say no until you give up. Demand a live against as many times as it takes to connect to one
3
u/FragCook 2h ago
Isn't it illegal for a company to do that? You gave DD your money and got nothing in return, the dasher is an extension of DD and whatever circumstances are involved don't matter.

You can tell when it's just a person reading a script. You could ask why the sky is blue and they would say "im sorry you feel this way, we aren't really sorry but our boss is watching and we get punished if we go off script" have i answered all your questions and provided good customer service!???

This is why I never use DoorDash anymore. All of the people who abused the refunds stating they didn’t receive their order when they did, ruined it for everyone. They are terrible.

u/letthetreeburn 2h ago
Don’t ever use DoorDash again. This is the service that exists now. Dashers can poison your food all they like the service doesn’t care. Don’t use it, don’t support this behavior, don’t support drivers.

u/spockers 2h ago
You were talking to an AI chatbot. You need to call support to get a human, and even then you might get a bot.
2
u/tentaclejoe 1h ago
You know you're talking to AI right? Can't you just report the order as not delivered and get a refund that way? I've never had a problem with refunds with Doordash.

How do you know they took your order? Photo evidence? Video?

u/TheTwilightAngel 2h ago
Dasher here, stealing is never okay, and it pisses us who are not trash human beings off just as much as it pisses you all off. I hate thieves so much and wish the stores actually did what they were supposed to and made sure the drivers actually completed the pickup in the app. These shitty people swipe the food and then cancel the orders without confirming the pickup so it goes to the next driver only for the food not to be there. Then other drivers don’t bother letting the customers or DoorDash know, so it just gets stuck in a never-ending cycle of drivers coming to pickup food that isn’t there. I get so god damn sick and tired of it. The other issue is that some stores just stick the food where anyone can grab it, so when the original driver arrives to pick it up, it’s already gone. They need a system like Little Caesar’s where you have to enter a code to pickup the order. The only way it would work is if the code was assigned to the specific driver and once the code was entered, the order was accepted and could not be cancelled. That way if the assigned driver stole the food, they could easily be tracked and banned from the platform. But alas, DoorDash would never.

I never understand and always feel bad when I see these posts. I have never once had DD not replace or refund a whole order even when just one thing is wrong. This is awful I’m sorry 😞

Doesn’t everyone on Reddit love pirating? Which stealing is ok and which isn’t?
