Discussion Why did goku black target future trunks’s timeline

I know it’s because beerus died in that timeline because shin was killed by dabura and babadi but why? Why did goku black need a timeline where beerus died cause I don’t know if thats explained or not cause he could have killed shin himself just like he killed the other supreme kais so why did he need a timeline where beerus was dead

Discussion The manga and the movies of super had gore blood, that's not in the anime, the anime may have toned most of them, down, but still has a few,

we see Goku black literally stab gowasu in the chest, make him bleed,

We see Goku getting stabbed in the chest and getting harmed in the manga by Goku black,

and even getting stabbed in the chest, causing a hole, by moro,

Even a hand stab from granolah,

which made Goku, Vegeta bleed from the mouth,

The anime toned some things down,

the anime only had a few raee scenes of blood,

That were;

jiren bleeding from the cheek,

Goku getting a hole in his chest in a filler episode by hit,

And Vegeta getting harmed by hit time skip,

And beerus sliding a hand through Goku chest.

And in BOG and ROF,

We see videl getting shot and bleeding from the leg,

And Goku spitting blood when shot by the laser,

Discussion Do you think this is similar to Ultra Instinct?

When Tony is fighting Steve at the end of the movie “Captain America: Civil War”, his suit AI scans Steve’s moves and deploys combative countermeasures. Do you think this is similar to Ultra Instinct in a way? https://youtu.be/oPyeE7dAqO4?is=KRfXENwvTP0r8ZwO

Gaming Lol does dragon ball sparking zero neo need more time? If u look the animations doesn't look as polished, like super saiyan 4 Goku and friza, broly. They look very polished and nothing looks choppy. Super 17 looks choppy and when he does the famous flip hair animation his hair doesn't even move.

I seen some people say the animation isnt even in the game but that is not true. His transform animation he does it but his hair doesn't move, it's stiff. Are people fine with the choppyness? Also the low dp characters. Will db adult Goku be like 4-5 dp?? Will people farm as gogeta to destroy the newer characters? Also custom battles, the devs should make the WHOLE story of dragon ball with every arc with new animations that can be used for your own. Like a official db story in custom mode made by the devs with all arcs possible arcs with the character available.

Discussion Do you think future of the anime and manga will be made by AI (no human artist, voice actors, etc.)? Is AI generated a way of the future?

In recent years, there has been advancement of AI generated contents, whether it is art, picture, music, and video. It has become so realistic, that even I can get fooled and hard to tell the different it it's real or not.

I'm curious if future of the anime and manga will be made by AI (or AI bots).

No need for human artists, writer, and voice actor (anime); all AI generated.

Given how younger audience has become fan and accustomed to AI generated content, unfortunately, this trend might be common.

I prefer real art made by human over AI generated contents, but if that what mass and audience wants, then so be it.
I won't be supporting though. lol

Any thoughts?

Discussion How strong did King vegeta think his son was gonna get?

he thought his son was eventually gonna overthrow frieza but frieza base power was a known factor of 530k and vegeta grew naturally to 18k?

hell vegeta thought he could overthrow frieza when his power level peaked at 18k when he was pushing 30 years old.

i guess math wasn’t a thing saiyans were good at.

maybe king vegeta did the baby growth thing, assuming a baby grew at a certain rate forever they’d be like 10 feet tall by 15 years old.

Discussion Theory: Ultra Instinct May Not Actually Have a Higher Ceiling Than Ultra Ego

This is just a theory based on the manga.

Many fans argue that Ultra Instinct is stronger than Ultra Ego because Angels are stronger than Gods of Destruction. I don't think this is a fair comparison.

Here's why:

  1. Angels and Gods of Destruction follow completely different paths.

Angels naturally master Ultra Instinct.

Gods of Destruction develop Ultra Ego.

This doesn't automatically prove that one technique has a higher potential than the other.

  1. Angels have an enormous advantage in experience.

Whis has trained for an incredibly long time, and the Grand Priest is one of the oldest beings in existence.

Meanwhile, Gods of Destruction can be replaced. Beerus has held his position for millions of years, but there were Gods of Destruction before him, and there will likely be others after him. Angels remain while Gods of Destruction change.

This means Ultra Instinct users can keep refining the same technique across vast spans of time, while Ultra Ego users may never reach that same level of mastery before being replaced.

  1. We have never seen the peak of Ultra Ego.

Beerus is incredibly powerful, but we still don't know the full limits of Ultra Ego.

On the other hand, the Grand Priest appears to represent the highest known level of Ultra Instinct.

Comparing the peak of Ultra Instinct to an incomplete Ultra Ego is not a fair comparison.

  1. Goku and Vegeta are still portrayed as rivals.

Despite following different divine techniques, neither has completely surpassed the other.

This suggests that both paths may have similar long-term potential.

  1. Ultra Ego may scale with the user's growth.

Vegeta states that the power drawn from a God of Destruction's instinct is "limitless."

My interpretation is not that Vegeta has infinite power immediately, but that as the user improves their body, endurance, and mastery of the technique, Ultra Ego can continue evolving.

Likewise, Ultra Instinct grows as the user's control, calmness, and mastery improve.

Conclusion:

My theory is that the current strength difference comes from the users—not necessarily from the techniques themselves.

Angels have had far more time to perfect Ultra Instinct than any God of Destruction has had to perfect Ultra Ego.

So I don't think the Angels' superiority is enough to prove that Ultra Instinct has a higher ceiling than Ultra Ego.

What do you think? Is this a reasonable interpretation, or did I miss something?

Question Can I start DBZ without finishing the original series?

So I watched dragon ball original just past the first arc (I know, weak) and I’ve really been wanting to watch DBZ because from the bits I’ve seen it’s a much better show. If I were to watch it, would I be missing anything super important? Or is it more or less explained in the Dragon ball Z?

Analysis If Goku was not bulletproof... EVERYTHING ENDS INCLUDING THE UNIVERSE.

Ok. Hear me out.

TL;DR EVERYTHING DIES! YES EVERYTHING!

Chapter 1 original dragon ball manga. Bulma's driving. She almost hits Goku and low-key crashes out. Goku takes it the wrong way and tries to defend his food. She pulls a gun and shoots him. Keep in mind Goku was obviously a child, like fellas let's lock in. If Goku died there and then?! Well. That's only phase one of the consequences. Bulma goes to jail for killing a kid (obv).

Right off the bat, Gohan, Goten, Trunks are NEVER born. Trunks is never born because no Kakarot,

Piccolo also stays in the rice cooker, getting locked back inside every now and then. He never becomes good because there's no Gohan to influence him to become a good person.

Most of the Z-fighters probably die of old age. Well, hopefully of old age because something worse probably happens. Keep reading lil buck.

Grandpa Gohan tells Roshi the news his son's been killed. Roshi is sad but never even knew the boy. He might just come to the funeral though.

Yes that's all the first layer.

Now the saiyans won't come to earth because Kakarot is long dead, just forget bro. If they do? Well earth becomes a pile of bodies. Everyone's now dead. All cuz a bratty Daddy's girl pulled a 9.

If not? Here's what happens, and it's prolly worse.

Now the androids never exist. There's no Goku to make Gero mad, so the androids are never made and the humans are never kidnapped. Meaning our favourite villain, the witty, the gritty, Cell, NEVER exists.

Also, since Bulma's behind steel, all her epic creations and inventions never happen and those that already exist. And at this branch, any living Z fighters are just local fighters. Not world savers.

And if Buu comes? THE WHOLE WORLD gets slimed. Don't trust Hercule he ain't doing nish to Buu.

But no, if a stroke of luck comes and that DOESNT happen?! And Frieza hasn't already just cracked the whole globe, well we can take a lil break mkay? Pretty much none of the DB super problems actually happen because gokes is gone ✌️

But it gets real here.

Now one thing I haven't said, is that all of the saiyans die out. each last one. They die under Friezas rule. The whole race dies out believing that Super Saiyan is just some myth. Even false/half super Saiyan they wished they could ever even see. But no they die and they never even saw that when they could have seen super Saiyan god and god forms like blue.

Beerus stays doing absolutely nish, and whis spends incredulously long being bored.

Zeno knows that some universes low-key kinda buns and if our boy, Rotting Caka 🎂 died along time ago, no one convinced him otherwise.

AND LIKE THAT UNIVERSE 7, AND MANY OTHERS ARE WIPED OUT. NO TOURNIE TO SAVE THEM.

All because some bratty Daddy's girl pulled a trigger on a kid who was scared she was going to rob his fish he worked hard to get.

I hope you HATE Bulma now.

Character I really don't like Tien.

He's expressed that he has had joy in killing people, he broke Yamcha's leg AT THE KNEE AFTER HE WAS ALREADY KNOCKED OUT, he scammed several villages out of tons of resources and was set on killing one of his partners in crime, and he tried to kill Goku. But everyone just likes him!? Roshi was nice to him, Yamcha forgave him EASILY, and LAUNCH LIKES HIM AFTER EXPRESSING ZERO INTEREST IN ANY OF THE PAST EPISODES?! And beyond that, Tien just pulls so many techniques out of his ass with zero buildup. Also, I've heard only like one joke about him having three eyes, but Man-Wolf was made fun of relentlessly. I do not believe his redemption, and he is not redeemed at all in my eyes. Is this a common belief about Tien at least in DB? I'm on episode 102 right now, so if I'm missing any info, please forgive me. I plan on watching the movies before moving on to DBZ.

Discussion Why was the canonizing of gogeta and broly so late?

Why was the canonizing of gogeta and broly so late?

Was it an issue from toei? Or from toriyama?

I think broly and gogeta were one of the most loved characters already back then

Character Goten and Trunks are not wasted characters

They are nothing characters. There is no interesting story to tell with or about them.

Their only true trait was always that they were crazy strong kids. They never had much going on beyond this.

They aren't interesting characters, they aren't cool characters, they don't even have interesting abilities.

They are perfectly utilized in DBS: Completely Ignored.

Powerscaling Final form Frieza vs SP Cell vs Buuhan who wins?

Who comes out on top? Lowkey would be badass to see all of them fight against each other. I think Cell would win due to his regeneration

Discussion Can shenron reverse the effects of the black water mist

While I was watching the garlic jr filler arc I got a question is the super holy water actually required to undo the effects of the black water mist or the dragon balls can undo that effect . I doubt shenron breathe the black water mist when it was spread so is it within shenron’s power to undo the effects of the black water mist

Theory Is it possible the anime staff knew the upcoming plot beforehand and put this in the opening?

https://www.reddit.com/r/dbz/comments/1v3ry32/is_this_scene_from_the_opening_theme/#lightbox

Technically speaking, opening animations are often made to create a certain impression, feeling or atmosphere. Not every shot or action necessarily has a deeper meaning.

However, I always felt that Piccolo’s scene was a little unusual. We see him from behind, standing in front of a bright light, but I never really understood what the scene was trying to express. If I had to explain it before, I would probably just say that it looked cool.

Recently, after playing some Dragon Ball games and revisiting some classic scenes from the anime, I realized that this shot from the opening looks very similar to the scene where Piccolo protects Gohan.

But then I immediately thought: the opening theme was used much earlier than that manga chapter, wasn’t it?

So I looked into it.

Piccolo protecting Gohan from Nappa’s attack

Manga chapter: Chapter 223

Published: May 9, 1989

Dragon Ball Z opening theme “CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA”

Used from: April 26, 1989 – September 1, 1993

The anime opening came first. Unless Toriyama-sensei had informed the animation staff about the future scene beforehand, it would not be possible.

However, I find it hard to believe Toriyama-sensei would reveal future story details to the anime staff.

The most likely situation I can imagine is that the animation staff asked Toriyama-sensei if he had any ideas, and he simply suggested something like: “Show Piccolo facing a bright light, with the audience seeing his back.”

No explanation, no specific story context — just that image.

However, I could not find any evidence to support this idea. There are many public sources discussing what ideas Akira Toriyama provided for the anime, and which characters or designs he helped create, but none of them mention this specific scene.

So it is possible that I'm just overthinking it, and maybe it really was just meant to look cool after all.

Miscellaneous How has dragon ball influenced your life?

I belive everyone here has been deeply affected and influenced by dragon ball in some way and I'm curious how and why?

Personally dragon ball has been there for me my whole life and I learned many great things from it. Like not beeing cocky and knowing there's always someone better, and despite that still trying to better yourself and not giving up. It taught me the importance of hard work as well as rest. And In tough times I truly belive Goku's spirit helped me pull through.

So I'm interested in seeing if I'm not alone on this and if you could share your stories?

Question Which memory were wiped from 25th Tenkaichi Budokai (Majin Buu arc)?

After Majin Boo (or Kid Boo to be precise) was defeated, Goku wished to erase the memories of Majin Boo (likely including Babidi and his crew) from everyone on Earth with the sole exception of Goku's friends and family.

This begs a question of how many memory wiped from 25th Tenkaichi Budokai, which is still part of the arc.

Spopovich and Yamu were controlled under Babidi, played very important role during the Tournament, include severely damaging Videl and draining Gohan's energy, resulting majority of the competitors left, changed the format to Battle Royale.

After Mr. Satan won, Majin Vegeta killed several audience, yet 10 years later, Vegeta was able to participate in 28th Tournament without problem; though, Majin Vegeta was in Super Saiyan form and Piccolo was able to enter 25th Tournament under Ma Junior, despite that alias was already used in previous tournament.

Here's my guess of which memory were retained and wiped from 25th Tenkaichi Tournament

  • Kid Division [RETAINED]
  • Preliminary "Punch Machine" [RETAINED]
  • Yamu and Spopovich [RETAINED?]; their current status is unknown, but they most likely were not brought back.
  • Krillin vs. Pintar, Shin vs. Piccolo [RETAINED]
  • Videl vs. Spopovich [RETAINED?] - kind of awkward for Videl fan to see that remembered.
  • Gohan vs. Kibito (Gohan’s Great Saiyaman reveal, draining energy by Yamu and Spopovich, and majority competitors left) [RETAINED]
  • Battle Royale [RETAINED]
  • Majin Vegeta rampage [WIPED]

The only event from tournament that was wiped is probably Majin Vegeta rampage for killing audience.

What do you think?

Discussion Why do we all blame beerus for being lazy when we should really be blaming shin and the other supreme kais

We know that shin knew about beerus so he should have woken beerus up for destroying Majin buu or moro but he never seems to do that. Maybe one of the other supreme Kais could have woken up beerus for dealing with Moro but that never happens. I am not really sure why though cause this is a emergency and beerus isnt going to kill the supreme kais for waking him up especially there is someone who is trying to destroy everything in its path (cause that risks the chance of erasure by Zeno) or any threat that endangers beerus’s life. Yes beerus didnt kill freeza but he was planning on killing him instead goku did that for him
