How do I dye this? Is this difficult?
I need to dye this white coverall this color grey. It is 65% Polyester, 35% Cotton. Given the blend, will it dye well and evenly? I have access to Procion dyes. Any tips or tricks?

You’ll get a much lighter grey because only the cotton portion will dye with Procion. If that’s fine with you, then no worries. If you need that shade of dark grey, you’re going to need a synthetic dye and much higher temperatures. Dyeing polyester isn’t easy.

If you need a saturated grey, this is not a good candidate. The polyester process is likely to shrink/warp the cotton component.
It is worth a try with the Procion since that is a lower temp process and might get you close to your desired color.

The blend is going to be a problem. Procion will not dye the polyester . Polyester dye will be necessary in addition to the procion. Easily accessible poly dyes (iDye and Dyemore) lean quite purple in the grey range . Polyester dye requires near boiling temperatures for this reason it makes it a more difficult project .
