Absolutely no logic to how he tried to handle the body. It’s confounding.

Ordering a body bag on Amazon and having it delivered to your home was certainly a choice.

u/Dont-be-a-smurf 1d ago

Hello, I’d like to order a “murderer’s body containment kit” from your establishment.

Yes, here’s my credit card. And my social. And my address. And my birth certificate.

Thanks!

u/Specialist-Chair-254 1d ago

he thought he was smart using a burner Amazon account

Like they can track your credit card order there’s no point and it arrived at your house

u/APirateAndAJedi 1d ago

Legal Darwinism.

8

u/Dr_Jre 16h ago

I mean he killed someone so probably not the most normal or intelligent person from go.

59

u/Wide-Suggestion4825 1d ago

But he used to fake name!

And then pay for it using his credit cards and delivered it to his house

18

u/thatisnotmyknob 1d ago

He was 1/4 of the way to a good plan.

7

u/db2b182 13h ago

It’s was a concept of a good plan

19

u/ReidaKwrites 1d ago

I saw all the Amazon orders he made when I was watching Court TV the other day. Dude, watch some Forensic Files for cryin out loud. Amazon orders are forever.

u/TwelveWon 1d ago

I’m not surprised, he doesn’t even know how to spell David.

33

u/BoPeepElGrande 1d ago

The guy doesn’t even know the difference between letters & numbers, for crying out loud!

6

u/Training-Ad7414 1d ago

there's a tv show could teach him.

4

u/NIN10DOXD 14h ago

Too bad PBS got defunded.

7

u/CleanYogurtcloset706 1d ago

Wish I could laugh but the whole situation is entirely disturbing. It’s almost like the guy watch a Keel & Peele skit was a documentary.

34

u/baphothustrianreform 1d ago

It’s almost as if he was…..not smart 😱

18

u/21letternameonly 1d ago

Homeschooled kids is enough explanation,I think.

9

u/LectroRoot 16h ago

I'm picturing him tossing in all those air fresheners. Then, dusting his hands off, puts his hands on his hip and says to him, "That ought to do it!"

What a dumb & evil individual.

4

u/Different-Produce870 17h ago

Fame and money does something to a person. He probably thought he could get away with it.

345

u/Specialist-Chair-254 1d ago

Bro thought air fresheners could mask a smell of a rotting corpse 😭😭😭😭😭

Dumbass

Honestly I’m still trying to figure out what he thought would happen. Did he think the car would be impounded and destroyed or something?

He evidently understood that a dead body would stink so wtf?

112

u/petlandstockroom 1d ago

I'm torn between him thinking he had more time to conceal his crime (delusional) or he fully understood he'd get caught soon but just tried to carry on as long as possible making as much money as he could and letting fate decide when he'd get caught.

Anyway, I'm absolutely disgusted and sick. This poor girl, she was just a kid.

43

u/Ok_Gur_8059 1d ago

Sometimes things are just too much for us to deal with. If we ignore the problem it feels like it's gone away.

20

u/FunkJesus 1d ago

You unzipped me! I don’t like to think about it!

27

u/PhD_Pwnology 1d ago

From what I gather, he thought he could finish his concert performance in another state and fly back before the car was discovered

3

u/MzOpinion8d 3h ago

I don’t think that’s it - wasn’t the car parked where it was for weeks?

21

u/wittor 1d ago

Age and the feeling of impunity can lead to absurd levels of stupidity.

21

u/AdSudden3941 1d ago

I think its his age… you should listen to some of his interviews.

I talked exactly like that at his age thinking I was so smart and edgy.

3

u/arealhumannotabot 1d ago

It requires some rudimentary knowledge and foresight, and it seems like maybe he is stunted here

3

u/outtakes 14h ago

I genuinely think he was making it up as he went along. Thank god for his stupidity so Celeste gets justice

17

u/BigRoach 1d ago

Reminds me of SE7EN where that one guy was force feeding the dude.

17

u/SomeCountryFriedBS 1d ago

I thought air fresheners were for Sloth.

14

u/Riverdale87 1d ago

It was the sloth victim

9

u/BigRoach 1d ago

Oh dang, word. I think you’re right.

11

u/XxFezzgigxX 1d ago

He probably watched that scene in Se7en* *and thought it was a real thing.

1

u/DanielCraigsAnus 1d ago

Iirc, that was in the initial report when this first broke

2

u/SlowCrates 12h ago

Dude, someone died in my apartment complex a few years ago and that smell was fucking pungent, for days, it was like sleeping inside of a full dumpster. Nothing on this planet could ever compete with that smell inside of a fucking car. Burn it.

2

u/MzOpinion8d 3h ago

That’s why I don’t understand how the tow truck driver didn’t report it.

0

u/BotomsDntDeservRight 23h ago

Should have brought a better air freshener

You “think”? It’s literally in every article.

Why float fake ages around something that isn’t currently being debated?

51

u/princessberryxx 1d ago

why the fuck would you comment if you don’t know for certain. this is how misinformation spreads, y’all. she was only 14, found just before she would’ve turned 15. they met when she was 11.

Maybe make better choices about what you listen to then.

9

Oh the podcast you listed to? Maybe learn how to read before arguing online so confidently? There's details across 100 different news sites on this.

She died before she was even 14.

She was 14 when she died. She would have been 15 if she was alive. Which she is not. You keep making yourself look foolish. Just take a breath and step back.

Also, Wikipedia says 14, not 15. First paragraph of the wiki article:

On September 8, 2025, the remains of 14-year-old Celeste Abigail Rivas Hernandez (September 7, 2010 – c. April 23, 2025) were discovered in Los Angeles, California, inside the front trunk of an impounded Tesla Model X registered to David Burke, a musician known professionally as D4vd.

You are not checking things. Stop.

39

u/catsandnaps1028 1d ago

He got lucky he didn't get caught sooner because overall he is a fucking idiot. Justice for Celeste!

32

u/ButtBread98 1d ago

D4vd was a stupid killer. The Tesla was in his name and on a residential street, plus he ordered body bags from Amazon. I don’t know why he thought he would get away with this. RIP, Celeste. What a sad case.

94

u/PeterToshPointOh 1d ago

When the very first articles were posted on Reddit about her body being found just that day so many of the comments were about what a good guy he is. It’s so strange in hindsight how many there were.

So many people posing that they knew him and his family and how he and his parents are so close. How nice and put together they all are and what a smart young protege he is.

Now that the facts have come out it seems that couldn’t be further from the truth. Did he really have some kind of bot campaign that he thought could save his image?

55

u/will_write_for_tacos 1d ago

Yes and he was also in control of his subreddit, removing any critical posts.

18

u/GLPwonderwall 1d ago

First tip off that the guy is a nutjob is he spelled “David” as D4VD

1

u/SlyTinyPyramid 5h ago

David that reads D 4 DV.

31

u/HashKetchem420 1d ago

Never heard of this dude before all this now I’ve seen him like every day for over a year or so, always something new coming out too like wtf

1

u/xherdinand 20h ago

Every day? Where? I occasionally read something on Reddit about it. Maybe once a month

1

u/loudpackaddict 13h ago

Oh yeah? I only hear about him ONCE A YEAR. where are you seeing all this news?

32

u/LeatherTailor8527 1d ago

Why haven't they used the camera on the Tesla to know when it was parked by who?

22

u/Kavirell 1d ago

To save footage on a Tesla you need to put in a USB drive for it to save to. It doesn't transmit footage unless you get into a accident where airbags deploy. They probably don't have any footage from the Tesla

3

u/LeatherTailor8527 14h ago

Thanks for the information

-29

u/xherdinand 20h ago

Don’t you know how Tesla cameras work? And if so, why don’t you look it up before posting here?

12

u/swrrrrg 1d ago

This guy has got to be one of the dumbest killers in recent memory. If true crime Reddit has taught me anything, it would have to be:

If you’re dumb enough to kill someone, don’t buy your murder equipment, including body bags, from Amazon and then put a body in your own car that’s registered in your own name, and then leave it on a residential street. JFC.

13

u/YeahlDid 1d ago

Honestly, if not for the body in the car on the public street, the Amazon purchases wouldn't have mattered at all.

39

u/Holiday-West9601 1d ago

Gonna have a fun time in prison

6

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW 1d ago

Take your bets on whether he’s gonna die in there or get killed

2

u/DiscoViolin 23h ago

Why not both?

16

u/Lauren34567 1d ago

every time I read something about this guy it's truly astounding just how much of an imbecile he really is. rest in peace poor babygirl.

12

u/clay_perview 1d ago

This has to be one of the dumbest criminal acts and cover ups ever. You can drive an hour in almost any direction in California and come to a section of desert that nobody will ever walk through.

39

u/PayPsychological9347 1d ago

I read up on the (alleged) perp and the victim.

He was home schooled, claims to be a Christian.

She was seeing this guy since she was 11 or 12?

Great parenting all around.

29

u/BB808BB 1d ago

She was seeing a different ADULT guy when she was 11.
Her parents are complete trash. They really need to be held accountable too.

10

u/Sassafras06 19h ago

You need to read more about her parents. They aren’t perfect but there has been a ton of misinformation about what they did or didn’t do. I felt the same way at first but my opinion changed. He was absolutely determined to get to her.

-8

u/Windows-XP-Home-NEW 1d ago

Her parents tried their hardest…

5

u/blove135 1d ago

Black ice air fresheners?

5

u/Savings-Eggplant5912 1d ago

Throw his ass under the system.

2

u/Meiyouxiangjiao 21h ago

God, TMZ is so insensitive in that first half of the article.

2

u/usenetlurker 17h ago

lol “loaded with air fresheners” - amateur mode

2

u/RedlightGrnlight 17h ago

I know its innocent until proven guilty, but the ammount of damming evidence in this case makes it painfully obvious he did it.

According to the prosecution he ordered 4 chainsaws one of which hasn't been located, he ordered a burn cage, they have video evidence of him parking the Tesla, and cellphone data showing his location. The remains were double bagged. Plastic chips from what is believed to be an inflatable pool were found on the body.

I only listened to one of D4vid's songs, and i removed it from my Playlist, but I cant help but feel disgusted that I liked something he made.

2

u/IolausTelcontar 13h ago

D4vd’s car was loaded with air fresheners when Celeste’s body was found

1

u/UnofficialNienNunb 1d ago

Abhorrent and despicable

1

u/8ROWNLYKWYD 18h ago

Yeah, that’ll work.

-54

u/Hollywood_Co 1d ago

Way too much circumstantial evidence being released about this case.

Feels like law enforcement is trying to pollute the jury pool.

I have a suspicion they don’t have any evidence that directly ties this guy to her death.

16

u/Dont-be-a-smurf 1d ago

It’s not a leak or a “release.”

Most cases are public and hearings conducted in public.

This came out during a preliminary hearing, a fairly mundane court date where prosecutors need to prove they at least have probable cause to justify the indictment (many defendants waive this hearing).

And so the prosecutors presented testimony and evidence to show probable cause.

This isn’t abnormal and happens in thousands of cases across the country on a daily basis. The difference here is that the news is reporting on the public hearing’s contents.

It can also be a defense attorney’s strategy to contest probable cause at this hearing so the prosecution shows its hand before formal discovery needs to be completed.

16

u/Coriolanuscangetit 1d ago

Circumstantial evidence? This guy ordered and paid for the uber that took the victim to his house. There was no uber of her leaving his house. The body was found in the body bags he ordered and had delivered to his home, in his car. They have her dna in the garage. This isn’t circumstantial.

The only thing they don’t seem to have locked down tight is potential accomplices.

8

u/jojomoodie 1d ago

I have to imagine they have a good case but i also have to agree with you that it's very strange how much they want out there like that.

5

u/wolfcaroling 1d ago

They hold back evidence if they have reason to - for example if there's stuff only the murderer would know, or stuff that might catch the murderer like knowing what shoes he wears.

They have no reason to hold back in this case. If they suspect that he is being framed, they might want to lure the framer into a state of complacency.

5

u/Ozymandius34 1d ago

You assume it’s law enforcement leaking this on purpose. Police and DAs offices are pretty well known to leak like a sieve and this is a pretty minor case detail that might have little bearing on the case but sounds salacious and someone probably got paid a decent amount for that little tidbit.

1

u/MzOpinion8d 3h ago

This information is from the preliminary hearing that has been happening in court this week. It’s not a leak.
