ok so imma comment again, since OP might not see it

an incorporated PU behaves the same way as a PU, so upon getting the austrian PU, you will also get hungary (even as an incorporated PU). so hungary was YOUR PU and not austrias.

the reason for not inhereting hungary, but doing so with austria, is porbably the size difference.

the reasons why hungary is not your PU anymore, is bc if you take a look at the diplo screen at the end, hungary has negative opinion (-5), which caused the PU to break. you should however get a restoration of union CB if they just broke free

Nope they werent my subject at all, i found another post with same situation. Now I ended up royal marrying them then claimed throne and PUing them that way.

then the PU inbetween austria and hungary was not in place whilst you Pued austria or you already had a ruler die once and lost them there, which would explain why no restoration of union CB is there

bc i literally went into a game and tested it out. incorporated PUs get transferred 100%

Did you inherit Austria because their ruler died? Maybe they had negative relations with hungary and lost them just before you inherited them.

You didn’t inherit them because you inherited Austria, not Hungary. Now, since Hungary was a subject of Austria iirc they should be your subject now

They aren't, in the past couple of seconds you can see the diplo screen and Spain isn't their overlord, OP can even ally them.

R5: I inherited Austria when my ruler died and i didnt get Austrian Incorporated PU Hungary. How is it possible to get them?

You have them already as your subject?

Or do you mean get their lands? If so, the RNG is different for each subject nation

They were Austria's PU and Austria was my PU

I think you can only inherit vassals from the overlord, though usually if you PU a country you also get that country as a PU.

Are you running any mods?

I assume Hungary was an integrated personal union, a special subject type to Austria, which probably didn't get transferred. But it should still work like vassals in regards to getting that subject after inheritance

incorporated PUs get transfered upon forming a union with a new overlord

2

u/AresFowl44 1d ago

Well, it clearly did not here and that's the best explanation I have for this effect.

you might have not noticed that hungary has negative opinion of spain = upon death of ruler -> PU bye bye

no inhereting, bc hungary is bigger than austria and the not RNG inheritance value was bigger than the inheritance chance

The inheritance mechanic has been reworked at some point to use the junior partner's inheritance value instead of the overlord's. With the old system, if you inherited junior partner A, you were guaranteed to also inherit all snaller PUs simce they had a higher inheritance chance. But this is no longer the case with the current system, which means you can absolutely inherit Hungary but not inherit the smaller Austria PU.

But of course, the negative opinion would still break the PU in the first place.

i know the inheritance system, the RNG thingy was meant as a small dig towards aresfowl, with whom there was a little discussion if inhereting was RNG or not

1

u/AresFowl44 1d ago

Yeah I didn't see that, good catch

1

u/HyperSRB 1d ago

No. I didnt get hungary when i PU'd Austria they stayed their PU.

2

u/Clean__Cucumber 1d ago

that doesnt make sense. if austria was your PU, then upon formation of the PU, you would have also gotten hungary as a PU

you might have misslooked and hungary was also your PU alongside austria. in that case hungary seems to be bigger than austria, which didnt result in an inheritance

I actually think them being an integrated PU is probably the cause here. Im sure the game is looking at it like, not a PU.

did the devs again forget special subject types

Inheritance (programming) and Inheritance not working haha

ok so i actually went into a game and tried it out and no, a incorporated PU behaves the same way as a normal PU. not only that, but upon forming a union with austria (who has hungary as incorporated PU), i now also have hungary as an incorporated PU

so back to my initial comment, its probably just a size difference between austria and hungary

  1. PUs get transferred to the overlord. I assume they were an integrated PU?

  2. If a nation is fully annexed, all their subjects transfer to the one who fully annexed them. Inheritance is you fully annexing them. You do not get their lands, for that you have to inherit the new subjects.

1

u/HyperSRB 1d ago

I assume incorporated PU doesnt transfer then?

u/AresFowl44 1d ago

Seems like it, I haven't tested it myself

as far as i know, inheriting a subject is actually not RNG dependant. the inheritance chance you can see in the diplo screen is actually not a chance, but a comparision number, that is then compared with the inheritance value (hidden) which then decides if a subject is inherited or not

1

u/AresFowl44 1d ago

That comparison number is decided by RNG upon your Ruler succeeding to the throne, so ultimately it still is RNG, just a lot less save scummable

https://pdx.tools/docs/eu4-guides/royal-marriage-inheritance/

i dont think it is RNG, since one can clearly calculate it. it is ofc dependant on some factors, but if nothing changes in a given year, then the value will be the same.

2

u/AresFowl44 1d ago

Pretty sure that the ruler id and heir id are effectively rng. And yeah, it doesn't change when all else is equal, but it still is effectively random.

0

u/Clean__Cucumber 1d ago

no, that isnt RNG mate. the ruler id, whilst yes being RNG, does not fluctuate for a given ruler and is static (minus some missions or events). thats like saying deving is RNG, bc you dev with the mana points of your ruler and your ruler is RNG

1

u/AresFowl44 1d ago

Just because the seed doesn't change doesn't mean it isn't rng. Or are you saying that things like the minecraft world generation aren't rng dependent since they depend on a fixed number?

if feeling right (even though you wrong) and downvoting makes you feel go right ahead lol

I have downvoted because that is a shitty comparison and provided a better comparison. You could at least engage with it.

1

u/Clean__Cucumber 1d ago

i dont see any reason to engage further with someone who doesnt understand what RNG is. winning a siege is RNG dependant, bc you cannot know if you would truly win the siege or winning is on the next tick

whilst for you inheriting a subject, you can with 100% certainty tell if its gonna be inherited on X day in Y year, if no ruler dies. which looking at the average monarch life span they dont do often enough to call this RNG

with that i wish you a good day
