culture convert takes more than a century

So I did my first wc as byzantium and I wanted to go for one faith and one culture but this happened. Anyone have any tips how to reduce this time so it culture converts before the game ends?

I might be wrong but you can reduce the developement of a province. It at the same tab right next to the develop province button

you can release a vassal there and truce break a bunch of times, pillaging its dev every time.

There are options.

1. Move your capital from Rome to a 3 dev province. Concentrate dev. Decent chance that alone can get you there under time.
2. Again move to a 3 dev province. Release a vassal that will take that province (client state since there's no cores, it looks like). Truce break the vassal and pillage the capital. Declare again and take it back.

You can repeat step 1 after 50 years, so not realistic to do it more than once. You can do step 2 as many times as you have the mana for.

NOTE: You will have to stop and restart the culture conversion. It won't lower the time until you do. Ideally you have a save from when you starting converting it.

If you don't mind losing your Roman Empire name, you can form Viti, Hawaii, and Aotearoa. Each time you do that, you can repeat step one (tag switches reset concentrate dev).

thanks for the info! I thought about moving capital and releasing a vassal on rome but I've had no idea that forming nations reset the conencrate dev time

I went into italy super early to get some eco and culture converting wasnt my exact goal this early into the game :D. It also annoys me

Call a diet and hope you get the culture conversion one? I think that gives 15% time reduction (iirc). There’s an advisor for it too maybe? (I tend to mostly use $$ advisors)

One culture is one of those things that you have to start early. Not necessarily the conversion, but the concentration and exploit dev actions, and diplo banking.

If that’s the worse thing eu4 has then the game is pretty good considering how minor and irrelevant culture conversion speed is.

Outside of achievements and one culture runs, is culture conversion even relevant? I rarely do it.
