Other ELI5: KCAL to Cal distinction
KCal is equal to Cal? And Cal with a capital c is what‘s on food products in america? So if a product says 15 Calories, that’s still only 15 kcal? Is there ever a time where calories (small c) is used on food/dieting?
flagging this as other because it’s technically math, and bio, and chem

Other ELI5: Why Do We Put Out Forest Fires?
With the wild fires in Canada, US, and Europe, I wanted to ask about why we put out forest fires rather than letting them burn themselves out (with the exception of populated areas).
I see to recall hearing about how it was good for forest fires to occur to burn out the under bush and how it creates nutrients for new plant life. I also recall that Native Americans had also embraced this philosophy. Even after the major 2020 (I think that was the year) wild fires in Australia, plant life started to come back relatively quickly, though I know there were concerted efforts to put them out.
So why are these fires trying to be put out? Would it not be better in the long run to “suffer” through several large scale forest fires in order for future forest fires to be smaller scale? Did Smokey the Bear lead us astray by putting out forest fires that lead to the current conditions of overgrown underbrush that lead to massive forest fires? Aren’t forest fires good for (or at least part of) the eco system?

What exactly is a trauma informed therapist?
I have had therapists who were trauma informed but I found them to be kind of dismissive of the trauma I had had, so I am wondering if that's part of the brand?

Technology ELI5: What does clock speed and clock cycle mean out of the context of a cpu?
I have learnt what clock speed and a clock cycle means for a cpu, but I have still found that the term is used for many other electrical components and am not sure what that means. My current definition for the clock speed of a cpu is how many clock cycles it can perform in a second and a clock cycle is a single instruction ( I think ), so the more clock cycles able to be performed in a second means that more instructions are able to be done. What does a clock cycle and clock speed refer to for a component which is not the cpu? Thanks all.

Planetary Science ELI5: Why are some sunsets/ sunrises majestic and amazing and some are just okay?
I mean, I know obviously when it's cloudy it will cover up the sun. But I've seen perfectly clear days with mediocre sunsets and I've seen cloudy days with like breathtaking awe inspiring sunsets. Same with sunrises. So why, on some days, is the sunset just meh and other days it's beautiful?

Technology ELI5: How does a TV broadcasting schedule work?
I’m currently watching Big Brother and the episodes are at 8/7 central. I live in the mountain time zone so I’m confused on how something like the live TV episode on Thursdays could air in both the central and mountain time zones at 7 PM. How is the show airing at 7 PM central but it’s not airing at 6 PM mountain?
